Brew 2 is being savoured.
Dried out tin of shoe polish has been retrieved from 'the box' and binned. There's a pack of toilet thingys that need to be put in a cage under the toilet rim. They're ancient and I don't gave a cage.....so they're going in the bin too.
Pack of two toilet thingys that go in the cistern (not in a cage): one can go in the cistern this morning; the other can go in the cupboard under the sink for later use.
Two lots of ant powder - will wipe down and put in the cupboard under the sink.
That cupboard needs a sort out but I'll deal with the visible stuff first.
To Do Today List
Get dressed
Feed the birds
Put out the recycling
Laundry shuffle
I've made my bed. There are no dirty pots. Only the mug that I'm currently drinking from.
Toilet thingys
Ant Powder
Sunday (I think) = LR
Dust windowsill
Put trophies in a box for DS
Put lawnmower* under the kitchen table
* it's still in its box. In front of the telly. Doesn't belong under the table either - but no room in the shed until I get rid of the bicycles.
I've already bundled up all my knitting and related paraphernalia, put it in a bag and taken it upstairs out of the way until the knitting mojo returns.
Get steps out of shed
Put up door curtain
Put steps back in shed
YL - one shelf, one box, one item, at a time. Whatever works for you and removes the overwhelm factor. If my one item is a 'staller' I put it to one side and move on to the next item. Usually my subconscious comes up with an acceptable plan for the 'staller'.. it just needs time to formulate.
I can't wait to get into the CoD (Cupboard of Doom) under the stairs and syart unearthing forgotten treasures.

Morning all,
Continuing to send flylady vibes to Round for Pops. A little extra can’t hurt now, can it x
Yesterday I subconsciously used Dana K White’s strategies to empty one of the storage boxes that has been piled on the landing for a year. Everything was taken out one at a time and the proper home found for it. The container theory (not sure that is the proper term, but if it fits in the allocated box, it stays, otherwise it goes, iyswim) was duly applied. Result? One box down and a better idea of what the other 2 boxes hold. Another one with HB - yes, I could join the decluttering thread but that made me anxious last year (I know, I am Fayolle and I am weird) with moving so fast, so I’ll just pull up my chair and stay sitting right here, if that’s ok.
In the afternoon, I made a couple of birthday cards for February birthdays - getting ahead and using up craft supplies 😊. Kitchen given a quick s&s before friends came round for a catch up. This morning I have WUDUPA from last evening, and s&s the kitchen again. DH is declaring man flu. Again. I am going to get out of his way and admin a little bit. Yes, it is that bad that I am even prepared to admin rather than listen to him!8 -
Morning All - good news about Pops Round
I agree with you all about a sense of belonging on the flylady thread - I occasionally lurk on the declutter thread & whatnot but always come back here to declutter my thoughts as well as my cupboards 🤗
Just finishing this cuppa, then finish my Sat & Sun list
🙂

YORKSHIRELASS said:I have a lot of guilt about stuff I spent money on on the past and don't use.I have too. The good thing about facing up to that, and then deciding where those things would be more advantageously placed (charity shop, Gumtree, F'book Marketplace, Ebay, Vinted, Scrapstore, the tip, gifted to others) is that once you've made that decision you feel a lot lighter and less guilt. Actually doing that step/stage and then getting the stuff out of the house feels very, very liberating. You are not alone in this. We all feel exactly the same about our excess stuff. We all put off dealing with excess gibble because we feel that guilt, because it involves making decisions when we have to accept that we're not going to be using the things again, and doing some physical work. As Round and Eltee so brilliantly have discoverd is that one item at a time is enough and doesn't feel over-whelming.Marie Kondo says we need to accept that the purpose of those items is the thrill we experienced when we bought them, so there's no need to hang on to them now. I found that quite a life lesson (as in it has stopped me buying stuff this January) and very helpful indeed.Better is good enough.8

To Do Today List
Get dressed ✅
Feed the birds ✅
Put out the recycling ✅
Laundry shuffle ✅
Toilet thingys ✅
Ant Powder ✅ one was empty??? - it's now in the bin
Dust windowsill
Put trophies in a box for DS
Put lawnmower* under the kitchen table
Get steps out of shed
Put up door curtain
Put steps back in shed
Now having a coffee and going to request my repeat prescription.
There are only five items left in 'the box'. Once emptied I will give the box (it's plastic) a good wash and then use it to stash DS's trophies ready for him to take home. It's a plan. 😊

@ Round (and anyone else decluttering actually)
Your 'toilet thingies' can go to the foodbank if you have anywhere to donate - they happily accept non-food items too.
Alternately - use them in the cistern!
And lovely to hear Pops is doing so well
Prepping for sunday dinner...and tidying. I may have to lose a layer of clothing. *mops brow* On my list is 'order meds' which is why I'm here ...TICK!
laters!

Door curtain is up and steps returned to the shed.
Telephone call made to the village pub to book a table for Saturday evening - tea with DS and DDil, a belated birthday meal for DS; and for 4th Feb. - tea with my ex colleague, S.
Telephone call received from uncle and aunt (Pops' brother and wife) after Babs had contacted them from Spain. Telephone call made to aunt (mum's sister) to tell her about Pops before the jungle drums reach her. Telephone call made to DSil (cause she answered DB's phone) to inform that uncle now has DB's phone number and may ring.
And.....breathe.....
