Also, you mention items under £20 which some would usually send untracked but (apparently) due to the changes FOR PRIVATE SELLERS ONLY “So therefore everyone will have to only send via tracked services which cost more to post.” This is a completely false statement. Nobody is insisting EVERYONE has to send items tracked. If you wish to send low value items untracked (as you may do currently) this will just mean your funds are released after 14 days. 14 days may seem like a while, but this is just a few pounds plus the cost of a stamp. This isn’t a significant sum of money we are talking about. Remember THIS POLICY ONLY APPLIES TO PRIVATE SELLERS and if you’re selling expensive items and sending them tracked etc then the chances are you should be using a business account anyway.
I received an item before Christmas from an Ebay seller and it wasn't tracked. When it arrived they'd used a more expensive untracked service. I think long term sellers may have been caught up in some older price structures and haven't checked out the prices and services Royal Mail and Ebay now offer.

When it gets to 120 signatures it will be debated in the House of Commons and they will make eBay illegal or something.

I have absolutely no objection to petitions and ‘people power’ which I believe it right and correct under a democracy, however my concern with this petition is that it is fundamentally incorrect. The false information given in the statement as to why this is a poor idea shows that people have either not actually read the policy or have failed to grasp what is says, and I would feel more comfortable if it were taken down, corrected and then re uploaded. In its present inaccurate form it makes anyone signing it look foolish , and I think that works against the fundamental problems with the policy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You're right, that's true, certainly for 2nd class vs. RM48. First class and RM24 are much closer in price

Ebay are trying to level up as Vinted already offer free listings, charge buyer fees and pay after delivery proof. Royal mail do not offer compensation for untracked items if they're missing. You have to send signed for if you wish to have up £20 compensation.
Nothing has changed for business sellers as they can sell much bigger quantities and values on a daily basis. not the odd item.
Untracked items you receive funds after 14 days as that is the timeframe that most items will be delivered within.
When you open a business account with eBay you have to wait until after delivery for funds until you get a review by eBay that deems you to be a good business seller, most will get this on their first review so it's not that long.
Ebay are also trying to stop business sellers using private accounts as unfortunately there are a number that do, some even advertise they are doing it. With the current and past rules businesses on a private account can undercut me considerably. Business sellers have had years of not getting ebay offers such as discounted selling fees that private sellers used to in the past before it was free to list. Private sellers still pay fees for any listings they choose to promote, as the promoted listings fees still apply as does the international transaction fee if you sell outside of the UK.
I also sell on my private account as I collect things and have been selling what I no-longer want or collect but to get round the waiting 14 days I will sell low value items as a job lot and send signed for or tracked 48 depending on sale price.1 -

I have made many claims for items sent standard postage not signed for or tracked and all they have provided is 6 first class stamps. Royal mail told me over the phone before there is no way of proving something has not been delivered, unlike signed and tracked which they can check the scan location and last scan recorded, so they don't cover. I made a claim last year so it may have changed since or it had changed and the staff were not trained properly or made a mistake with my claim.
They require the proof of posting regardless of anything else as this will prevent anyone making a false claim when they have not posted anything.
