I usually do my weekly food shopping on a Tuesday but I'm off on annual leave from work this week, and what glorious weather it's given for this week too
, and i have had to pick my daughter up from the airport today so that has taken up most of the day and by the time i got back it was rush hour traffic, so rath than sit in all the traffic and take forever. I will do my food shopping tomorrow instead.
I did however spend £20.00 on petrol to fuel the car.

Today is the last day of my financial month as its the day before my payday. I started with my salary of £1738.72 and £6.62 left in my bank account from the previous month (£1745.34 Total).
This month as the National living wage has increased by 77p to £12.21ph my new monthly net salary is £1829.91 which is an increase of £91.19 on last months pay, which will come in handy to pay more towards these debts hopefully.
I have £328.94 remaining in my bank account, so i have just made my monthly lump sum payment of £300.00 to my Natwest CC bringing the balance now down to £4428.23
So with changing my debts over from my Virgin CC, Tesco CC and Hastings loan half way through the month to my new Natwest CC its a bit more difficult to summarise but i will try my best :
So a summary of my debts :
......................................................................................................................................................
Debt balances when i started posting on this forum on 6th Jan
Hastings Loan £2962.60
Virgin CC £1230.00
Tesco CC £2273.00
Total £6465.60
......................................................................................................................................................
Debt balances at the start of this month (April)
Hastings Loan £1967.48
Virgin CC £789.00
Tesco CC £2108.00
Total £4864.48
....................................................................................................................................................
A summary of payments this month :
Hastings loan £18.83 + £13.08 final settlement (interest) = remaining balance transferred to Natwest CC £1947.75
Virgin CC £36.00 = Remaining balance transferred to Natwest CC £753.00
Tesco CC £0 = Full balance transferred to Natwest CC £2108.00
Total Payments to old CC's Loans (above) = £54.83 (+ £13.08 final settlement/interest)
Total transferred onto the new Natwest CC £4808.75
Payments to the new Natwest CC
Total daily payments = £44.52
Total Weekly payments = £36.00
Lump sum payment = £300.00
Total payments to the new Natwest CC = £380.52
Total payments towards the overall debt over all cards and loans £435.35 (+ £13.08 final settlement/interest)
This is down on the figure i paid last month, this is due to the restart of my council tax direct debit again, so this was expected.
My new Natwest CC (and only debt now) is = £4428.23Reduced by £2037.37 since 3rd January
......................................................................................................................................................
Savings/Emergency account payments this month :
Previous balance £234.50
This months payments +£160.00
Withdrawal of -£107.00 for daughters Birthday day out
Withdrawal of -£20.00 to pay for the garage to fit a part to my car. (I still havent paid for this part as of yet as i was told i could pay at the end of the month, and im off work this week so it will be paid next month now and i will update my accounts on the day it is paid)
End balance £267.50
......................................................................................................................................................
In Summary :
As you can see, i have now paid off over 30% of my debt since Jan 3rd and nearly one third, with a remaining balance of £4428.23
Also the average payment for the next 11 months has come down to just over £400 a month to get it all cleared within the 12 month interest free period on my Natwest CC. (I have deleted the average amounts per day and week as these figures were irrelevant as they just kept going up and up until the end of the month when my lump sum was paid and they didnt really relate to anything so i decided to get rid of them. The monthly figure is the one that really matters, as long as im paying off more than that each month then im happy)
Hopefully with the extra money i get from the national living wage rise this month i can pay enough off the outstanding balance to bring the total debt down below the £4,000 mark. Thats the short term aim for this coming month.
Also the figures an payments recording and explaining will be alot easier going forward as it will all be to one debt for the whole month so it should all be a lot simpler
I think that is everything. Once again another disciplined spending month, its been hard at times, ive been dying to have a couple of nice cold beers in the back garden in the sunshine this week already, but im in this for the long haul and im sticking to the plan, money saved on beer is money paid towards the debt. 1 more day and it will be 4 months Alcohol free11 more months and this whole debt WILL be gone at the latest.
If i have missed anything or anyone has any questions (if anyone actually reads all this) then let me know and i will add it in or try and answer anything. Thanks for reading.

That's a good end of the month update and you’ve made great progress by reducing your debt by over £2,000 since January.
You have been very disciplined with your spending but perhaps you need a small treat to look forward to when hit a mile stone. This is just a thought as I do realise being debt free is the goal and while it is coming closer, it is still a few months away and I would hate you to lose focus after doing so well.
I feel confident that you will hit your goal of being below £4,000 at the end of May.

I went nice and early to do my food shop this morning before it got busy and also too hot. Total spent was £29.67 which is nicely below my weekly £30-£40 budget.
