Tez - I was out of work for a few months last year, so was a close friend of mine. These sort of replies were commonplace and numerous! My friend was landing more interviews than myself - partly because she was looking more intently than I was (different personal circs) and also she's 10 years younger than me. Eventually we both found something. She unfortunately did an 'out of the frying pan into the fire' job first and then resigned, and now has a job with a lot of unsocial hours (but big chunks of time off too) in a place that has a high staff turnover and she's just seeing it as a stop gap till the same organisation has other roles she can apply for. I saw an ad in a business window, applied and got it. I had to take a huge compromise on hours, days worked and a drop in pay - but there's no stress unlike my last couple of jobs. Each shift I walk away and the following one is a new start.

Keep looking but only go for the right thing. Keep an eye on the budget later this year too because if . the min wage goes up again this time next year especially if it's by a chunk, then your current employer may look to make further cuts then either in hours again or in manpower. You've proved with this diary how determined you can be, you've sorted the debt, you've sorted the mortgage, now to sort the job. . .

Thanks for that. yes i totally agree, im not going to rush into anything without making sure it is right for me and better than where i am. I cant afford mentally or financially to go to something worse and then regret it. I always try and evaluate the pros and cons of every job i apply for. I'm glad you found something better and less stressful.

It's funny you should mention that about my current employer making cuts when the minimum wage goes up, i searched online when they did it to us this year and apparently according to information i found they did it last year too. So it does seem a common thing with them, so i am hoping to find another employer before next time at the latest, but i won't just take any job just to get out, i need to know it will be right for me and hopefully for the long term.

It's the end of another week on my trading journey and the markets have risen significantly this week on the back of the ceasefire of the war. My investment pie is now sitting at +£49.31 (4.14%). As long as my investments grow by a bigger percentage than my mortgage percent charges me then investing is better than over paying my mortgage. It is really good to see this investment pie grow over time and im enjoying my investment journey so far and look forward to see how it grows more and more over years to come.
