That was my thinking. Taking itt will provide him with insight into whether a consultative role is for him, or if he wants to stick with making it happen roles in future, as well as having an opportunity to reflect then look forwardBaileys_Babe said:Congratulations Mr MV, a 8 month secondment maybe just what he needs to help him make a decision on what he wishes to do in the future.Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £9004.48 so far, against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here

Thank you all! ❤️ @Greying_Pilgrim @Baileys_Babe and @Suffolk_lass this is definitely the key here - no real pressure to decide yet. It's also been intimated that they really need someone with Mr MV's speciality, so while the money isn't there currently, pressure will be kept up to find it over the next however many months. And it's a chance for Mr MV to see if he likes consulting, likes this side of the company, still wants out entirely etc. If the work/life balance, despite the travelling is better, then that would be great (and I won't lie - I was straight onto my Avios account to see about flights to Japan, as this is one of the places he may have to travel to and I'd really like to go to!). We shall see. In the meantime, it's lovely to be going into the NY with some fresh impetus and new challenges. On the Cambridge front, despite promises to the contrary, still no news... 🙄 However, one of my US clients has sent me an enormous amount of work - all by automated system though so no actual communication about deadlines etc, which is not helpful at this time of year. I have emailed and asked but no answer (nor OOO) has been forthcoming. I will chase on Monday (the actual person I work with is in the UK, so I'm not sure what the issue is with comms). I'd quite like to start on it this morning (it's easy stuff and I can do a bit here and there quite easily), but I really would like some sort of communication first! So, I guess instead it's time to finish the trifle for today and round up the many items I need to take to Dad's - both stuff for today (a camping table - that was a last minute request 😉) and things to return/a little gift for being here for the asbestos test while we were away. Does everyone else have these piles 'for other people's houses'? We usually have something that's to go to someone's!Have a lovely Saturday all!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oh yes, in the end we installed a shelf in the hall they can gather on or around. It has helped no end to have a dedicated space for this stuff. It always seems to have something on it to that we are gifting, returning or lending.themadvix said:!So, I guess instead it's time to finish the trifle for today and round up the many items I need to take to Dad's - both stuff for today (a camping table - that was a last minute request 😉) and things to return/a little gift for being here for the asbestos test while we were away. Oh yes, and a new pile of other people's plastic sweet tubs that will go with me to the food bank next month. They are collecting them (it used to be used stamps BITD)Save £12k in 2026 #2 I have banked £9004.48 so far, against a £10k target The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here

We have a space in the hall which I'd far rather was clear at all times, but tends to be the congregation space for these things. And also glad I'm not the only one who collects other people's rubbish for obscure recycling purposes! 😂 I think that'll be to do with a lad (8 or 9 or similar) who gets them recycled to raise for charity (a BBC News article from last year?) - a really good idea given that they're not recyclable at kerbside in a lot (most?) places. (We've got one this year that's been gifted to us, but not had any in many years before that (people know me!) and the last one is still doing service as a useful container, so I don't remember if we can 'recycle' them at home or not.)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
