Good plan Greenbee. Is he heatgeek certified? They seem to be the people who know their stuff when it comes to system design - and I think you can pay £200 for them to design something? I have to say, despite the installation issues, we are so pleased with the heat pump itself - the house has never been more comfortable temperature wise. And 🐙 is redeeming itself in some departments - although I've not actually had a response to my complaint from where I sent it, I suspect this is because I've said it's being dealt with currently - and the Area Manager and his top guy have been absolutely brilliant - I feel validated in my opinion that the original install wasn't right. (The useless Install Coordinator has sent me an invoice... with an issue date and due date of the same day - 8 December 🙄 - I am completely ignoring this - I'm not paying until everything is installed to my satisfaction and I've had the MCS certificate and other paperwork.)

Definitely ignore the invoice until it's all fixed!

Plumber doesn't appear to have a website, but is listed on all the relevant professional body sites (at least, based on googling his number and knowing where he is based!). Electrician has recommended him, so I'll see what he comes back with - I'd rather spend a bit of money on the design as part of working out whether the installer is going to be any good. As the house is stupidly big, and currently has a badly designed heating system, I think it's worth seeing what he comes back with - if it's no good I've got a backup plan!

I've spent time with a couple of friends who have heat pumps recently, and I love the steady warmth. It's interesting that there's a significant difference as well between the ones who have a well-designed system and the ones who don't... in cost as well as comfort!

In that case, I think, despite the issues, our system is well designed! As you say, it's the steady warmth that is so nice. I really notice where we've got draughty bits now too - these will be dealth with in January/the New Year (thanks - I've just added them to my NY list!).

Well done Mr MV! It's nice to know he was offered it, even if he decides not to take it. As it's only until August, do they hold his current job for him?

I'm finding and attempting to eliminate draughts too. Some are easier to deal with than others. But even knowing where they are helps!
  • Excellent news on the battery situation, AND having a definite date to get the heat pump stuff completed too.

We too are contemplating pubbing this evening - although if we do it will probably be a pint or two at most.

Fingers crossed for MrMV and the job!

  • So good that Mrtmv was clearly identified as the best candidate for the new appt 😁👍  And also good that he's in a position of a) having the choice whether to go for it or not, and b) can give it a whirl without necessarily burning bridges with his current role/department.   Bravo - whatever he decides to do 😁 Did he enjoy his day up to his oxters in Gorse, and is it the wrong time of year for it to smell like coconut?  I have only ever caught the smell once, but it's uncanny how it does smell of coconut!
