Well i have made my goals for 2025 - these include being glamourous and healthy. making a start by doing physio daily for my knee as the pain is bad.
I've decluttered cosmetics and decided only to use really natural ones moving forwards as products use up. I admit the hand cream I recently purchased has a rather nasty medicinal smell but I've popped it by the kitchen sink and will use when I wash up as a small part to improving my hands hopefully which are, I think, looking really old now.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!4 -
Good Morning Lovely Ladies.Good to see all of your plans and schemes. Lots of good goals. Glamorous and healthy sounds good to me.Yes the cold weather does seem to affect us all as we get older. Not sure if I'm allowed to say this, hope it doesn't flag up as medical advice. But I have been trying good old Vicks Vapour Rub on my aching bones. My feet and hands are a lot more more comfortable, so far not quite so effective on my knees and neck, but then again it's only been a couple of days so I'll keep slathering it on. Luckily I don't mind the smell. 😂
Other than that not much happening. Dental hygienist yesterday. All good.Still sorting and decluttering. No dates for move yet.5 -
I have a prescription for ibuprofen gel that I keep forgetting about. I should try that.
I just had my first meditation class this morning. It is nice as it is in a yoga studio near the beach. I haven't been in a class like that since 2010! I was lying down on the mat and did notice that I was scanning my body as we were meditating and noticing where the aches and pains were. I had forgotten that it actually makes you more aware of your body. The instructor asked if I was uncomfortable afterwards as I must have been moving around and she said she will show me a pose next time that would be better for my back. I had a rather nice cake from a book shop on the way home and I also bought a new book.
Thanks for the info on weights. I know it is important for women to do strength exercise. I think I will go and do a dumbbell workout from YouTube right now while it is on my mind!5 -
I've been catching up with all my appointments, dentist, hygienist, optician. If I can get them out of the way at the start of the year then its just the regular hair, lashes, chiropractor appointments to schedule. Took the opportunity to do an online booking for an M&S bra fit too.
I was motivated by the chat to go and get my weights out and have done two dumbbell sessions today. During lockdown I had 5 or 6 exercises written down and used to have a 5 minute session 3x a day in between meetings. Must get back into this habit along with walking/swimming.Mortgage 31 Mar'25. est. £225,500k £309,749, Ends Feb'36 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)

Hi all,
Would love to join in with you?
I received an invite to my nephews wedding today and this is giving me the kick up the behind to get my weight under control.
I'm terrible for eating my feelings and had a really toxic relationship (3yrs) which ended almost 2rs ago but honestly I am still not fully recovered from all the mental trauma I suffered during that time.
I've hidden myself away and eaten my way through way more calories than a person needs which has resulted in me putting on about 4st in weight.
I'm aiming to get to a goal weight of 10st. Will weigh and measure soon and start keeping a food journal - this really helps me keep track.
Interested in the dumb bell exercises - will see if I can find a set on FB marketplace because I am also trying to pay off debt, mortgage and reduce the amount of stuff I own!Saving for Christmas 2025 - £250/£7308 -
Good Morning Lovely Ladies.Welcome Dolly Rocker. Love the name. I used to wear clothes by a company called Dolly Rocker back in the day...😁. When is the wedding?Eating one's feelings. A very good way to describe comfort eating, something I've been guilty of too. I blame my childhood, being rewarded with food for "good behaviour", being chastised for leaving food on my plate. My biggest thing was developing IBS at the tender age of 7 (maybe even younger).Oh, The punishments I had for having stomach problems and being a "picky eater". My parents just thought I was playing up and attention seeking. They didn't mean to be cruel but like many of their generation they were pretty clueless about nutrition and certainly didn't understand about food intolerances. Thankfully we know more now. But yes such childhood experiences not only exacerbated my stomach disorders they also skewed my relationship with food. It has taken me years to fully understand it all and deal with the ramifications.I'm glad to hear you have managed to extricate yourself from a bad relationship. Don't be too hard on yourself, it takes time to fully heal. My circumstances are somewhat different in I had to work my way through bereavement grief and loss but maybe not that different when you think about it. There is always grief in any kind of loss, that could mean divorce, loss of a job or a cherished way of life. Not all grief is restricted to bereavement. It happens when we lose something that holds emotional resonance for us and it can take years to fully heal. It's been 10 years since my husband died, and prior to that 9 years dealing with his illness. A long painful journey and it's only now, nearly 20 years on, that I feel "whole" again. Now I'm just dealing with the physical effects on my body of that grief and loss. I'm getting there, slowly but surely.Btw. The Vicks Vapour rub is definitely doing something. My feet feel so much better, not completely pain free but I would say a good 80% reduction in pain levels. Knees, and shoulders taking longer and not such a drastic reduction in pain, but again, definitely a small improvement.About a year ago I started using retinol. Took a photo at the start. I didn't think I could notice a drastic improvement and was deciding whether to continue or whether I was just wasting my money. Anyway I took a selfie to compare with last years photo to see if I could see any difference and yes there are some changes. My skin looks brighter in colour and I look less strained. Now of course that just could be down to improved general health and less stress in my life so I'm still uncertain as to how beneficial the retinol has been. However it's not too expensive so I'll carry on.I have also been reading about the wonders of castor oil so I have introduced that into my regime, mainly around the eye area. Apparently castor oil can help eyelash and eyebrow growth. Again it's cheap enough so I'm giving it a go.Other than that, not much happening. Car passed its MOT. 💃 wahoo. No moving date yet but hopefully still on track. I am aiming for end of March. 🤞. Still decluttering and packing, going to make a start on the garage today. But first time for a cup of coffee.......
Have a great weekend, y'all. Keeeeeeep fabbing,6 -
Oooh castor oil, do you think its good for wrinkles, and is it safe for the eye area. Just spotted that H&B has some organic caster oil on sale for £6.99 so think I'll pop in for that and use overnight.
I feel like my best two improvements for last year have definitely been a great hairdresser helping me to blend in the greys, and I've also finally started having my lashes/eyebrows professionally dyed. I think these two give a great framework to build on but would love to be confident about my skin now.Mortgage 31 Mar'25. est. £225,500k £309,749, Ends Feb'36 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)

Well I have used up a foot cream sachet assisted by DH treating me to a foot rub. Lovely and chilled out. A bit of a double win there. The box where foot items are kept had a tidy up and 3 items were binned. Why on earth would you keep a nail buffer for 30+ years when it is in tatters?? There are more emery boards in there than I will ever use. They need popping into a CS carrier bag. I will at some point be able to put both feet & hand treatments & tools together in one place.

Aren’t you lucky @2Scratters to have a nice foot rub done for you by your DH.
I have been using hand cream everyday for the last week (which I should do all the time but find I keep forgetting) - it has made a real difference so I have started putting the cream on my bedside table and using it once I am in bed so there is no chance of it getting washed off straight away.
My morning and evening face routine is good but I tend to neglect the rest of my body - moisturising is very haphazard so I am trying to concentrate on that a bit more. Can anyone recommend a reasonable priced body lotion but not anything with cocoa butter as I don’t like the smell. I have some luxury sample ones to use up but then I would like to switch over to a normal one going forward.
