MB. You made me laugh with your depiction of "winter glamour". Dodgy knees, streaming eyes, runny noses. Lol. Add in skin dried out like an old prune because of the lethal combo of cold winds and central heating. My hands are quite sore, even my legs are drying out and feel itchy. Hey ho. The joys of aging......lol.Currently sat with my heated throw over my legs as I drink my coffee and browse MSE. I suppose the heated throw dries out the skin on my legs too but the heat does help with my painful knees. So that's the lesser of two evils. As for snazzy dressing.....ha ha, forget it. It's a two pairs of socks day, and enough layers to look like the Michelin Man.Duchess. You're right. Now I know that any episode of anxiety is finite I can ride it out with a level of equanimity. Just knowing it's not permanent does actually lessen its effect. The worst part is always the associated stomach problems but as I've had digestive problems for over 65 years I have learned how to nurse myself back to health fairly quickly. It's bitterly cold here, no snow yet. Today I shall take down the Christmas decorations and have a good tidy up.The good news is the days are already getting longer.......3

I've just found your new thread and its exactly what I need. I find it so easy to slip back into bad habits, but I feel so much better having sorted out a new hairdresser last year and found a great beauty salon who've helped me with my eyebrows. Those two things have really made a difference with my confidence.
I'm another one who has always put everyone else first and made efforts for people who probably haven't reciprocated. So now I'm starting to put me first with family and friends - trying to figure out which relationships deserve effort, so its an interesting time while I take a step back and see what emerges.
I was listening to an interest Mel Robbins podcast yesterday about 'eating to lose fat, prevent disease and feel better'. There's a few things I'm going to follow, but I like how the speaker was understanding that we aren't going to give up our treats altogether, its just about being healthy in the main. Being healthy is my number one now that I'm entering my 60s, but losing some weight/being fitter will be a bonus.
I had a bug before Christmas and it really put me under the weather, but following along on here will mean I won't give in. Onwards and upwardsMortgage 31 Mar'25. est. £225,500k £309,749, Ends Feb'36 Jun'39 (target Feb'31)

No snow for us down in Dorset today just lots of rain and yet more flooding - incredibly mild again too - was 13 degrees when I went out earlier - on Friday morning it was minus 5 - very weird weather. Finally starting to feel a bit more back to normal after the flu-like virus that I had all over Christmas so hoping to start back on some gentle exercises from tomorrow - haven’t had the energy to do any recently. Christmas chocolate stash has either been used up or given away so I can concentrate on some healthy eating too.
Have a good week all 😀 xx4 -
Hello Ladies,
Thank you for your lovely compliments and good wishes.
Wednesday, I go to the Ritzy cinema in Brixton on a regular basis as I am a Picturehouse member.
My positive round up of 2024:
I watched 34 films at my local Picturehouse cinema.
I went to various theatres in London to watch 36 productions
I joined a new Women's group in January 2024 and went regularly throughout 2024 and to the lovely Christmas lunch
I went to Blackfriars Settlement mental health and well being discussion group regularly and to the Christmas party
I went to the Opera for the first time in my life. I got free tickets to see Rigoletto and Pirates of the Penzance
I paid for many members of my family to have a meal with me at my local Nando's on 3 occasions and we had so much to talk about, laugh about and enjoyed delicious food
I managed to read 28 books
I went to a fun house party, with Karaoke, great music, delicious food and lots of bottled water (there was also plenty of alcohol for those that drink alcohol)
I went to Reggaeoke 8 times with my daughter, once to Reggae Bingo and 3 times to Dancehall and Reggae Bingo with my daughter
I went to Karaoke 11 times
My less than positive times in 2024:
I was diagnosed as a Type 2 Diabetic, I was diagnosed with anemia and with a vitamin D deficiency. My Rheumatoid Arthritis, my Osteoarthritis and my Lupus Arthritis gave me some level of pain every day.
Our family lost my 2nd eldest brother, a cousin and a very dear elderly aunt

@sugarbaby125, so sorry for your losses & medical diagnoses last year. But well done on such an active social life, that is something I am trying to get more of. Social interaction is so important as we age.

Hello Ladies,
Thank you for your sympathy Makingabobor2
Oh dear Helen I hope you recover soon
I used to be a stay at home woman until I had a very close brush with death 12 years ago and again at the start of the pandemic when I got Covid-19. I decided that there was so much more to life than staying at home and reading anything between a hundred and two hundred books a year.5 -
Good Morning, sorry that you are struggling Helen, hope that chiro helps. Welcome back Sugarbaby. I'm terrible for reading but not posting very much!

Morning Ladies,
Happy new year if I haven't already wished you that and a fabbing one too.
Sorry to hear of your unwellness @helensbiggestfan hope you can get that sorted quickly.
I took a brave step the day after spending some time trying to use up an old avon product that was decades old. I know it was already spent money and had used it minimally. It had got some rough spots/grit in it some how, I had to give my head a wobble and think rationally its 1 item let it go... so I did. It sounds pathetic when written down yet I can/could waste money on something else and think nothing of it. I think it is the resetting of life habits and the need for change that are clearly sinking in.
We are now onto the next shower gel that needs using up.
