Just a quick trip to the plot, well at least it was supposed to be🤣. I sure I enter a worm hole when I get up there. Watered and fed the cabbages/ cauliflowers in the greenhouses. Mended the metal compost bay with some metal doors I found squirreled away. More wood for the bonfire 🔥. Got engrossed in chopping back last years wild blackberry stems although it did attempt to attack me back a couple of times. Found an almost day glow caterpillar hiding amongst the wood pile. Not sure what it was so put it back.Love 🐞Declutter 135/ 2026

@greenbee I'm assuming you are talking about tender veg toms/peppers/aubergine/courgette/cucumber etc?
I've done what Suffolk_Lass suggests and stuck trays outside the backdoor on a drip tray for easy watering - the reason I put the crates of larger plants into my potting shed is that it can get a bit breezy round here. I wouldn't leave tender veg outside overnight at the moment - we are set for night time temps just above freezing, so there is a bit of shifting stuff in and out of the house. The daytime temps for the coming week are looking good though.

Yep - toms, aubergines, peppers, cucumbers, loofahs
(Courgettes haven't been started yet). I think I'll get some gravel into the trays and maybe bring one lot of staging down onto the patio for a bit. Definitely still getting frosts here. 5 -
Yesterday I tackled the 6ft gooseberry plants, probably a bit late. They had all dropped branches to the floor and replicated themselves (not sure what this is called), so they had to come out too. OH rotavated the first couple of rows where the potatoes are going next week. Spring is definitely in the air.Love 🐞Declutter 135/ 2026

Lids were left off propagators last night, and so far no cat damage, so I'm hopeful that I can keep things on the windowsill for a bit longer. I just need to clear space for more trays!5

Tomatoes are germinating, thank goodness, after my kill episode last week. I am away from tomorrow until Sunday night and everything will just have to see to itself. DH will be asked to rotate the seed trays, but nothing elseSave £12k in 2025 #2 I saved £14,660.97 of £6000 or 244.35% of my target. The 2026 Save £12k in 2026 thread is here
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I finished the year at £2880.99/£3000 or 96.03% of my annual spend so I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026

Oh i love this idea. Tried propagating Monty Don style and it worked really well. But the layering method can be done in place where your bushes grow!Farway said:ladybird1106 said:Yesterday I tackled the 6ft gooseberry plants, probably a bit late. The greenhouse min max for the last few days was 0.7C/38.6C! Love the little temperature gauge we got.
Yesterday was a very productive day on allotment. Ms C done flower seeds in trays and a few rows of beetroot and lettuce in greenhouse.
We also done red sun shallots with fabric weedsuppressing, covered to protect against pigeons.
Finally i done a few rows of lettuce and beetroot under glass in the gladioli raised bed.
Ms C just put the first layer of varnish on the newly painted potting bench, seed planting shall commence tomorrow!
It's good for the soul to walk with your soles on the soil.8 -
