Wednesday: dry dull day with a high of 16°C, low 14°C but feeling 4° colder due to a chilly breeze. I have woken up with a rather swollen left hand side of face around the lower jawline - feels like a gum infection - so am feeling very sorry for myself. I have a hot compress held to my face & am steeling myself to do battle with the doctor’s receptionist which is making me feel even more down in the dumps 😞 Forgot to add the one broken handset & charging base (added to Tip pile) to my numbers so 2107 & 2108. I will start the cheerleading & take my mind off my swollen face 😉
regnbue what a stunning photo of the deer 🤩 Hope the bruises healed quickly 🤞 I was inspired to watch a short uTube video - some very sweet deer but some were quite insistent so I now understand the ‘nipping’ 😣 What a marvellous & outstanding holiday & thank you for sharing some of your photos with us 🥹
florianatwobob, well done on decluttering the ironing pile 👏 even if it was only for a couple of hours 😉
London_1, my first thought when I read This “…. one of my DGS Ben went to Japan a couple of years ago when he was at Uni and said of all the countries he has visited, (and he's been to a good few) it was the best place he has ever been. He was toying with the idea last year of possibly teaching English out there as he is a teacher, but a very pretty girlfriend and love has put paid to that idea I think 🙂” perhaps the two of them could go if Ben’s gf is also a teacher 🤔 It sounds like you made a good start on your Christmas shopping by going to The Grange on Monday 😊 I do hope you & your DD managed to avoid the downpours 🤞
suzeesu2000, very impressed at how thoroughly you de-fluffed & cleaned your tumble dryer 🤩 Excellent decluttering especially of papers 👏 but I do feel sorry for your friend getting caught in the downpour 😞
Brambling, great use of a wet day with some excellent decluttering 👏 Thank you for sharing This “I did find a small photos of my sister and I as teenagers I don't remember her being so Ginger! she was the only one of us, a couple of us had auburn highlights in dark brown hair but she hit the jackpot from our two red headed grandparents, I just got the temper. Even she was surprised when I sent her a copy of the picture 😁”
vulpix, sorry to hear that you are feeling so unwell 😞 I do hope that a doctor responded quickly to your message 🙏 I also hope MrV & Fomo are both OK 🙏
I am at the end of a page, have started the cheerleading for yesterday & need a drink so a natural place to stop for a while 🙂 Hope every is having as good a day as possible 🙏 See you later 👋

Good afternoon chums decluttered two library books after knit and natter this morning in Ryde, then I decided as it was dry to have a walk up to the fresh butchers at the top of the High Street I was recommened to last week
Boy was he good there was some gorgeous looking stuff there, and I thought ,hmm well I get some sausages first as I've found usually if the sausages are good the rest of the meat will be
What a smashing chap he was in there, and I bought half a dozen and we were having a good natter about meat and the quality and where he gets his from
.It all looked really nice and apparently he only will stock grass fed meat as he, like myself isn't keem on artificial chemicals that is put into a lot of fresh meat.
He said that his sausages are pure meat no fillers or flavours just good quality fresh pork from local farms. it was refreshing to chat to someone who actually cares about what is in his products.
I was just about to go and he said 'I tell you what I'll do you a deal' ,he picked up a lovely lamb chump chop and said 'take this home try it and I guarantee you will like the quality'.
He buys all of his lamb from the Isle of Man or local farms . So I came home with a free lamb chump chop to try. I promised him if I liked it I would go back next week and buy some more. Its only a small shop and unless you knew where it was you wouldn't know it was there as the top end of the High Street has not many shops and its small businesses there. There is also a Polish grocers that next week I'll have a look at,I didn't have time today. But it looks really interesting as there is a deli counter in there.
The butcher chap said all his deliveries are free and even if its not a big order he will deliver. I can definitely see me going back there.
Ok the sausages were probably a little dearer than supermarket ones but he said he won't even use plastic casing on them which I think is also a sign of a decent butchers
DD had made a large shepards pie for dinner tonight when I got home so we will probably have the sasages tomorrow night. I am always keen to use the smaller shops if I can The supermarkets are fine for basic bits but I prefer to use a fresh meat or veg shop if I can.The Island struggles sometimes as once the holiday makers have gone home the tourist and hotel trade obviously drops off in the winter
DD has just brought me a nice cuppa so its feet up and a bit of knitting and watching The Night Manager on ITVX, I've seen it before a long time ago and I have always enjoyed John Le Carre books and its a good binge watch for the afternoon
Cheers chums

That butcher sounds lovely if he is prepared to let you try it first.
Two casserole dishes, a toaster and two cups gifted. A lot more room in the cupboards now. I have some more bits to sort so hopefully a lot more will be gone.

Hi @Brie,Brie said:first world problems here......how does one hoover a carpet without using the rotary brush when there's no way to turn off the rotary? We've a new carpet and were told that one should never use anything other than just suction to hoover it. Our Shark hoover has a tiddly upholstery attachment that can be used instead of the big floor bit and that will work but it's slow going. And there are no suitable alternative attachments available to fit it as far as I can see online. Will need to take another good look at it and see if I can get a product number off it to see if there's a guide online to let me know what else I can do.
But for now the crumbs and dust were decluttered and the laundry done (which reminds me I must put it on the drying rack!!!)
I don't know if your Shark model is similar to mine, but the on off rocker switch in position 1 for hard floors on mine means it doesn't use the rotary bit from what I understand. If you can find your instruction book it might be work a look, or check with Shark directly
(Mine is 0 - off, I - hard floors, 2 - carpet)6 -
Thanks - I'll have a look but as far as I'm aware there's just an on/off switch. The rotary brush comes on automatically if you tilt the hoover back a bit so the base isn't at a 90 degree angle to the vertical pipe bit. (hope that makes sense). There's a footprint on the base so you put your foot there and tilt the hoover towards you and the brush starts whirling. I could try to not tilt it back but that would be very awkward.moginstein said:

Ah, that sounds different to mine then. I'd have a look around it in case there is anything that refers to hard floors or similar.
Trying to vac at 90 degrees would be very awkward
Hope you find a solution.4 -
We are supposed to be decorating my adult step sons room on the second floor but we have been very lax. Mostly because I am not sure how to fill all the cracks and holes caused by the clay soil and dry weather. Anyways sensible chap temporarily moved down to the first floor to avoid my mess and procrastination. So today I asked him if he wanted to move permanently to the first floor. The top floor is cold in the winter and boiling in the summer. He has autism so we are always careful with change. He said we would need to measure his furniture. We did and it was fine so I said when do you want to move. Well about half an hour later we were struggling down with a big chest of drawers and a wardrobe. He needs new blinds but he can manage with the curtains for a little while. Its a nicer room with an ensuite bathroom. I think he will love it.4

Been another lovely day here.DH sorted about 8 bags of books. Sold enough to fill 2 boxes which has left 3 bags and he’s already taken them out of the house. He’s a good man. Boxes are being collected tomorrow. Only another million books to go, he is a prolific reader.
Made sausage casserole in the slow cooker for tomorrow and one serving has gone in the freezer.
Not much else done apart from usual chores.
Have a good evening all, sweet dreams xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal
