@Wednesday2000 - I am so sorry, it is always an awful decision to have to make💐 Your cat is a real beauty 😍
@dND - I hope you feel better soon 💐
@vulpix - I make the mistake of comparing with my younger self too, however it sounds as if you are getting on really well with everything.@florianatwobob - I am so pleased for you that you have had that good news!
I have been trying on things in my wardrobe again and assigning to the clothing bank bag and possible items for sale. It feels like painting the Forth Bridge as I keep having to repeat this. Every time, more things go and yet the wardrobe still looks full!
Last night I made a pasta dish using up odds and ends from the freezer and I have also made Apple Jelly and homemade biscuits. The urge to go grocery shopping is quite strong but realistically I don’t need to go as I have a vegetable box delivered and milk. Also, we make all our own bread and I have loads of food in the pantry. It is never very exciting to be using up the dregs of the freezer although I do get a certain satisfaction from it.8 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday: An overcast breezy & rainy day with a high of 13°C & a low of 8°C DH drove me to MrS to pick up pumpkins & sweets for Halloween + a cake for DSis’s birthday on Saturday + we did a bit of shopping. Stopped of at As*a cash point on the way home. DH has offered to make cheesy pasta for dinner 🥹 so I have no excuse not to do some cheerleading 😉 By the way, I finally had a bowl of the hm soup - it is delicious 😋 Wudupa

vulpix, sorry to hear that you are having to spend so much time cleaning 😟 I remember you saying when you first looked at the house that it was crammed with furniture & ‘stuff’ everywhere 😞 so that would seem to have been hiding a multitude of sins 🤢 I am pleased to hear that you are going to craft club as a way of getting out of the house & doing something more enjoyable than cleaning ☺️ As to the dishwasher, just wondering if there are professionals who can/will deal with cleaning it 🤔 If yes, by the sounds of it, that might be money well spent 🧐 By the way, not rambling just stream of consciousness writing 😊
Excellent work decluttering tasks GrannyKate 👏 Hope you had a lovely time with DGD2 😊 & that you have managed to ‘book’ DS2 to put together the new bed 😉 Crikey that is a lot of November birthdays but having checked my calendar, I also have 10 birthdays in November (although one is mine 😉 so only 9 cards to write 🙊)
London_1, how wonderful to receive so many apples ☺️ Home grown fruit always tastes so much better than shop bought 😋
Lovely chatty post SpikyHedgehog ☺️ I suppose you should be thankful that whoever it was only took the opened bag of bulbs 😉 Lucky you having a chef in the family 😊 I do hope he takes the occasional busman’s holiday & cooks for you 🤞 Re This “Barbados looks an amazing place to go to, but brr! Coming back to a cold English autumn must be a shock!” it was especially as when they headed off temperatures here were in the high teens or low 20’s 😉 What a lovely way to spend an afternoon with a friend eating cake 😊 Hopefully everyone enjoyed the barley 🤞
suzeesu2000, fingers crossed that your listings will lead to more sales, now that your lovely friend is helping you 🤞 Excellent work getting all your laundry done despite the weather 👏 & also sorting out so much paperwork 👏
Lovely to see you dND ☺️ Excellent work with the decluttering 👏 just a pity that the council are so useless 🙁 Please take care of yourself 🙏 & hopefully you will feel able to post again in the not too distant future 😊
Lovely post weenancy & thank you for sharing 🥹
QueenJess, hope your time away was for pleasant reasons 🙏 Excellent decluttering & well done to your DD working through her stash of pencils, pens & stickers 👏

Wednesday, I am so sorry. Animals are such good friends. Take care.x
Brambling, congratulations on becoming an Auntie again. There must be something in the water, my new Grandson was 9lb 9oz. He is nearly as big as his brother who is 2!
TC, you may not be where you would like to be yet, but you are consistent and have been for years. Imagine how things were, to now, there must be a difference.x
Talking of clothes, we have far too may. The wardrobes are full, the drawers are full and I have a pile of jumpers in the bottom of the wardrobe. Trouble is I like them all. They are various sizes because I yoyo with my weight. I can only say I bring far, far less in than I used to. I also try to buy second hand with the exception of underwear. I do seem to have a bra problem. I suppose they are easier to store than Mr V's umbrella problem though.
I love my cleaning lady, I love my cleaning lady. She has made a huge difference in the kitchen yesterday. DD1 and I did inside the cupboards but LCL ( lovely cleaning lady) has done the outside of the doors and cleaned the window and tiles. She used a brillo! It feels like a different room. As for the dishwasher, I will get round to it, I admit I haven't even opened it yet. Just the anticipation of what it will be like has put me off. We have been living off stuff you can microwave and toast since we moved in as the cooker isn't ready to use yet. Not much washing up to do by hand at the moment.
It's all coming together. The electrician we always use came yesterday and will be doing the work whilst we are on holiday and the cats are in the cattery. Lots of new sockets, a new thingy board and new switches and light pendants. Also change some wall lights and put up a light fitting in the hall which I have bought from FB. Bathroom, Kitchen and dining room will be done when we have work done in the future.
Whilst it was fine yesterday, Mr V rejigged the 2 storage sheds that we inherited. There is a metal one and a plastic one. 2 kalax units have left the dining room which pleases me no end. There is a hint of a chance of getting in there now to find out where all those boxes should go. Whatever is in them hasn't been missed so far.
The banisters are striped pine and obviously grim. I have begun sanding them as washing them has made the varnish go sticky. The doors are the same with grease from hands. It will be a big job to sort out. I have washed them but they don't look nice.
I am not complaining, I love to make a silk purse from a pigs ear! The house cost much less because of how grim it was. It's only muck and I think the old girl is starting to show her good bones once more.

@vulpix re: the dishwasher - buy a bag of lemons, cut them in half and put them onto the racks, then run on the hottest cycle & leave until the next day. Hopefully it won't be quite so grim, so it can then be run with a full cleaning program!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hi all, been a bit AWOL, sorry. I have been and still am a bit stressed with the builders being in. No complaints about the work just very early starts, not enough sleep and the constant trying to keep the place clean with so much dust everywhere. Still you can't make an omlette without breaking an egg as they say. It will pass 😁.
Update on Dsis, Dniece is leaving tomorrow, back to Bequia. I think she is looking forward to uu a rest 😂. Dsis has told me she doesn't need me as she is now walking with walking sticks and does her physio 4 times a day, walking further than she did for years before the accident and no episodes of breathlessness. Dniece thinks that she is getting fitter but I have my own theory about it 😂. Anyway I am now just on standby if she thinks she needs me. This is great news but it means I can't really plan anything going forward justin and I am obviously a bit concerned that she won't be able to cope but all I can do is offer 😐.
A few things sorted here but feel not enough but it is what it is 😁.
Cardboard boxes recycled, had to wait for the bin to be emptied to fit them in. Car MOT ok, just a minor problem with the front bumper sorted so I am legal for another year 😂. Laundry vaguely kept on top of, the maiden has had to be put up and used which is not ideal due to the dust but it's ok. I sorted through a bag of yarn and have moved some to my current work in progress bag to be uu. This is mainly yarn inherited from my dmum that was in the loft and I found a lot of odd bits of aran weight. Dmum specialised in aran knits. There is not enough to make a garment except maybe a hat or smalk scarf but I also found with it a pattern book with a cushion cover so I think I will give that a try. It will always remind me of my Dmum while being useful 😁. Also sorted through a stash of pens I came across, 3 binned and a few added to the uu place. The 3 vases of flowers I was lucky enough to get for my birthday have bitten the dust. They all lasted about 4 weeks but I didn't keep on top of removing the gone over blooms and the poor things were covered in dust 😁. A parcel for Halloween was posted to Germany using packaging from stash. Emails also checked but I only deleted 100. Various bins emptied after being filled with carp from around the house 😂.
Having food in boxes in the lr has had the unexpected bonus of using it which is excellent. The kitchen has been kept clear and I have insisted that all washing up be done before bed so I can put it all away before the builders arrive in the morning keeping it dust free 😁. I really want this to continue 😁.
I think we are on the home stretch with the understairs toilet, everything fitted but water not yet connected and waiting for a door to be delivered them it will just be the decorating which will be easy 😁. I am hopeful it won't be much longer though we are now at the stage where the builder is only here for a couple of hours then heads out to other jobs.
I am trying to catch up with all the posts but admit to having very little concentration, too many things buzzing around my head 😂
Right time to go and do 😂
Hugs to everyone who would like one
