GrannyKate, your news about the babies is so sad. Love to you and all the family, particularly the young parents.
Florenceem, I do hope you can get MrF to a doctor this week.
Decluttered today:
- some sleep at lunchtime, after a very broken night
- an empty album and about 20 blurred/unflattering photos to the bin
- a much larger pile of duplicates and other photos that are OK but not wanted for the "official" family archive, set aside for DS1 in case he wants pictures of himself as a toddler
- the last of a mini-Christmas cake, the last of the Spekulatius biscuits, and the first slice of a ginger cake!
Plans for tomorrow:
- take down the Christmas tree and all the cards
- move the indoor strings of lights to the utility, where the outdoor lights are stored, and sort out which baubles are no longer needed, thereby reducing the Christmas decorations into a single container which already has a designated space in the loft
- dust everywhere
- put the rest of the ginger cake back in the freezer!18 -
GrannyKate I was also very sorry to hear your tragic news about the twins. My condolences to your family.
Tree came down yesterday. Getting rid of a huge angel. It's way too big. It was OH's mum's and I don't think she liked it much either!
We continue to fill bags for the CS. Moving is a big incentive to declutter. It will be hard to achieve much in the week, though. We both work full time and we have our son before and after he's at nursery. He's been joining in deciding which toys he'd like to keep and which to donate to charity. He'll be 4 soon. I'd like to take more to the CS shop tomorrow, and pop by Tesc on the way back as we've not been shopping for a while.
Someone picked up a travel cot and a toddler puddle suit today from free local maternity baby and toddler toolkit FB group.
Hugs to all that need them.16 -

Well I didn’t make much progress on the spare room in the end but did make wider progress …..I did find my three beautiful vintage linen tablecloths that are hand embroidered and washed and ironed them. I think I’m going to sell two of the three, and keep one for when I host afternoon tea. I can’t use three at once. In my dream life I have a china hire business but don’t think it is that likely. I’ll think on it some more.My partner went through his clothes today so about 12 T-shirts and a hoodie to go. He also did the dining room sideboard so I have a bag of old wires and a couple of phones for electrical recycling. Lots of random accumulated detritus and papers trashed/recycled. My daughter did her pyjamas and asked me to list a couple of hoodies to sell she doesn’t like. I now have a bag for life full of things to list and two bags (including the wrapping paper) in the car for the charity shop and one bag for the clothes recycling.Back to work tomorrow so unlikely to make much progress mon to fri. If the snow has cleared I might try and get the donations dropped off in my lunch break.18

Brambling, sorry to hear that you woke with the sniffles & a headache on NYD 😔 I do hope you were well enough to volunteer at the NT bookshop on Thursday 🤞& I also hope you managed to resist the temptation to buy any more books 😉
i hope you both had a better day Florenceem
It snowed briefly last night and we had about 1 - 1.5 inches before bed, heavy rain last night and all day soon washed it away, the grim weather and localised road flooding in town deterred me from leaving the house.I've have done some pottering / tidying nothing organised or in one place 🙄 but did managed to fill the wheelie bin for tomorrow rather than letting it go out only half full. I had planned to do more this evening but the cat came in wet and cosied up, I didn't have the heart to move him and he was lovely and warmLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin17 -
...In my dream life I have a china hire business but don’t think it is that likely. I’ll think on it some more...
For example: I used to have a 145 sq/yd allotment so had a lot of gardening kit / clothing / seeds that I don't need for my 45 sq/m garden.
I also used to bake & decorate cakes professionally but don't any more (divorce & relocation) so I got rid of 75% of my tools / colourings / tins.
And as much as I fantasised about running my own vintage afternoon tea business I know it won't happen, so I don't need to keep that lovely tea set I bought 6 years ago just in case.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Hello declutterati, you have all been on fire this weekend. I did quite well by giving DD1 10 items from the pantry 3 little 60's bubble vases and a kitch Italian lemon dish. Plus her hair products she had left here and a new nail varnish that I will never wear, and if I wanted to, I know someone with just the right colour! She is wanting to do some work on her house now she is back in it after renting it out for a few years. I have said we will go and do a days work on the main bedroom in a couple of weeks. There is a mystery pipe and some mystery wires we need to remove if we can. I suspect that there was an old immersion heater in an alcove at one time. She will make gorgeous food so that is a very good reason for us to go.
Weenancy, my Mum had cellulitis in her leg last year. She is absolutely fine now but it took a long time and several lots of antibiotics to clear it up. She wasn't sleepy but just generally under the weather and completely fed up with having to keep changing dressings and towels. The district nurse wanted her in hospital but she flatly refused. Good on her. That was her experience but I suppose it can affect people in different ways. The infection could be affecting Mr F, I hope you get some help very soon Floreceem. I hope Di picks up soon too.
Natty, I am impressed at you filling 2,025 black bags, legend. We don't get charity bags either, I assume we are not posh enough on our street.
Charlies tribe, how nice is that HP terrarium. Isn't Father Christmas clever?
It is raining hard just now so the snow is melting. The pop up waterfall is back but we have had an email from the local councillor asking to come and visit with someone from the flood team. Of course. The world and his wife have been to look at it over the years, the problem is a broken/ blocked land drain in the privately owned wood. The owners just never seem to get round to doing anything about it! They live at the other end of the village so it doesn't affect them.
Tomorrow I WILL wash the seat covers from the sofas, plus the throws. Mum's Birthday tomorrow so not much else will get done.
