You mean you don't want to celebrate Savings Week with a mediocre regular saver?subjecttocontract said:YBS must certainly know that they aren't going to raise much with such a poor offering.

Aplolgies. I was just looking at the basic Moneyfacts stuff.allegro120 said:
It's in factsheet - "Can I open more than one? . No. . If you open this account, you cannot open the branch version of the same account as well. The branch version is called The 50 Pound Regular Saver. . If you open more than one in your name, the most recent account will be closed. We’ll move it to an online easy access savings account." https://www.ybs.co.uk/documents/productdata/Factsheet-YB902003W.pdfs71hj said:Re YBS RS, Moneyfacts suggests ot can be opened by post as well as in branch I think and I can't see anything in their notes to suggest not being able to have both branch and e saver version0 -
I popped into a YBS branch with the intention to apply for the £50 branch saver. The place was deserted, just two staff manning the counters. I was told the next appointment for applying for this account was at 13:00 today. I left without the account and won’t be going back for it.7

BOE Base Rate has been held at 4%.
I shall do my final update of regular saver interest rate cuts since the previous cut later today.19 -
Any thoughts on whether we will see any improvement in interest rates offered?Bridlington1 said:BOE Base Rate has been held at 4%.

Am i silly hoping I will see some decent RS approaching Savers Week? The likes of 7% plus..?0 -
Unless certain staff are trained to open accounts and were away out of sight with customers in offices, then that is ridiculous!friolento said:I popped into a YBS branch with the intention to apply for the £50 branch saver. @RosieRooBear - many thanks for the push on doing this... the £50 I deposited yesterday appeared in the app this morning, so another £950 has been sent today.RosieRooBear said:
@janusd, personally I’d try funding it with a minimum payment to start with, if it doesn’t bounce back the next day and appears in the app you should be good to go with funding it fully. If it bounces back you know you can’t fund it and no harm done. My husband’s second R/S Issue 8, which we didn’t realise had been opened at around beginning August, as unable to access the app until recently, has now been fully funded for this month by making a minimum payment of £5 and a further £495 the following day and didn’t bounce back.janusd said:
for me, the unfunded RS from a couple of years ago has been removed from the app, but tantalisingly, the unfunded 2nd App Exclusive account is still there...s71hj said:
I think it may be a coincidence and that it just happens to be a time they are doing some gardening so to speak. I had 2 RSs that accidentally opened when the app was being very stroppy recently . Naturally I tried to fund both but the funds bounced back twice, once from a transaction that was an internal transfer from my MBS easy saver and once a FP from my current account. That was weeks ago but only in past few days the ghost RS has disappearedBridlington1 said:Regarding Monmouthshire BS ``phantom accounts":
Each of my phantom accounts had been ones that had been opened but never funded for whatever reason.
I've done a spot of experimenting and there may be a way of getting rid of the phantom accounts from the app. I simply sent £1 to each of the phantom accounts on Saturday, the £1s bounced back and landed in my current account yesterday.
I've just checked the app and the accounts have now disappeared so I'm just left with the open accounts only showing in the app.
It could also be a complete coincidence but I thought I'd mention it anyhow just in case it works for anyone else.1 -
You’re welcome, glad to help a fellow saver 😁janusd said:

Similar to you a number of years back and before my regular saver days, I popped into a Principality branch to open a plain vanilla account. There were just two ladies whispering to a cashier in the corner of the counter and me standing in the foyer. After a while one of the assistants came over and I asked to open an account. She said “Have you an appointment”, I said I hadn’t and she said, “ You have to have an appointment to open an account”, and I said you don’t seem busy. She just repeated the line and went back to her conversation. I walked out and made a complaint. Never heard anything more!friolento said:I popped into a YBS branch with the intention to apply for the £50 branch saver. The place was deserted, just two staff manning the counters. If there's cash around in my experience banks and BS' require at least two people to keep an eye on it and each other so I'm not surprised they were unwilling to help.ForumUser7 said:
