I opened a different "Members saver" with Saffron without having been a member for a year a few months ago, they closed it and returned my deposit, plus a few pence interest if I remember correctly!
Did they close it immediately? I feel like it would be better practice to give like 5 days for you to get in touch, in case they’d made a mistake etc. (albeit not the case in this situation)
I opened the account and funded it on the 7th of the month, and they closed the account returned the money on the 10th of the same month, with the following message in online banking secure mail:

"This account is for members who have had an existing relationship with Saffron Building Society for the past 12 months. Your recently opened account has been closed and the funds returned to your nominated bank account."

Has anyone made a 13th payment to this account? I have the one from last year that started at 7%. The T&Cs are a little ambiguous:
There is a minimum lodgement of £20 required to open this account and the maximum deposit per calendar month is £300, meaning you can save up to a maximum of £3,600 per calendar year.

If you open mid-month, there are 13 months where you can make a "lodgement", meaning the maximum you can save is £3,900. The above doesn't say there is a maximum balance of £3,600 + Interest, but I'd rather not send another £300 next month and then find it eventually bounces.

Progressive login screen reads "We have sent a 6-digit access code to you by SMS or WhatsApp. It may take five minutes for your code to arrive." but the input just says to enter "6 Digit WhatsApp Code".

It took a few minutes to arrive and I could login, wonder if it detects those without WhatsApp and falls back to SMS?
I used to get a 2 min delayed SMS
Today no SMS, no whatsapp either.
Tried ''resend code'', still waiting for code to arrive, been 15 mins now
I've got a dumbphone, so no WhatsApp. I waited ten minutes for a code by SMS, then requested another, and now 15 minutes later I've received nothing.

    How ****** useless.
I just called them. I don't want WhatsApp or an authenticator app. It's far from ideal but they can give you the code over the phone so even without a smartphone you can still access your online account, during business hours at least.

Giving codes out to a caller does of course completely negate the entire point of the "something they have" part of a multi factor authentication!

How are they verifying that you are who you say you are, using some of the existing password or memorable information?

I note lots of people saying they've opened and funded their new account(s) - when I applied (logged in) I got a message saying they might contact me in the next few days. My wife got the same. As yet no accounts showing in our online accounts.

We've been members since Spring 2024 so this is the first time we've been eligible - is this normal?

Given the number of comments from people who have opened and funded these accounts "speculatively" (including me) I'm guessing that most people would rather NOT be contacted.

Not had any such communication myself.

For anyone who may still have the Principality Learner Earner (original issue) I've just received an email stating the interest on the account will be reducing to 4.9% (from 5.15%) from 19th June, in line with Principality's other variable accounts
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

I funded it yesterday and had a balance of £3.9k showing on my account as of yesterday.

Which account are you referring to, the members month RS or the refer a friend?
I opened the MMRS yesterday and it was opened immediately, I haven't tried the RAF RS as I don't qualify
