Regular Savers Thread Announcement:
It has now been two months since I launched this version of The Top Regular Savers Discussion Thread following on from @Special_Saver2's 17 years of sterling work in maintaining it.
At the time I took the decision to continue the core function of the previous threads whilst making some changes to the structure and scope of the thread, including but not limited to halving the number of sections from 8 to 4, clarifying that NLA regular savers can be discussed and introducing a greater interaction between this thread and The Archived History Of Regular Savers Thread *** NO CHAT*** thread.
I would like to thank you all for your patience in giving the new structure time to be implemented and to all those who have contributed to this thread over the last two months.
After evaluating how the thread is being run in recent weeks and considering the feedback many of you have provided privately I have taken the decision to continue running the two threads in the way I have done for the last two months, with updates to both threads being made daily as and when new accounts are launched, withdrawn or interest rates have changed.Updates To Main Regular Savers Thread:
There are however some changes that have been made, mainly to the layout of the first pages of the threads.
Changes to headings:
As you may have noticed I have began using the ``Heading2" format for post titles in order to make them stand out more and improve readability. This change has been implemented both on this thread and The Archived History Of Regular Savers Thread *** NO CHAT*** thread.
Changes to formatting of some regular saver listings:
Some listings on the first page of this thread had some extra lines inserted after I had saved the posts despite none appearing when editing the posts. I have now resolved this issue for the sake of neatness.
Changes to opening posts on both threads:
In order to make the opening posts on both threads easier to follow I have divided the text in the introductory posts into clearer sections. The overwhelming majority of the text itself remains unchanged however.
I have also added a list of common abbreviations and terms frequently used throughout this thread to make it easier for new users who may be less familiar with regular savers.More general changes:
Changes to thresholds:
Previously I was only including accounts where the interest rate is 4.75% or better, or 4.5% if the account has favourable conditions (e.g. you can pay in £500 per month or more, the interest rate is fixed, or if the account matures after at least 2 years).
As you shall no doubt be aware the BOE Base Rate was cut from 4.75% to 4.5% on 6/2/25. After reviewing the wider savings landscape following this decision I have chosen to alter the thresholds for regular savers to be included on the main Regular Savers List.
I am now including accounts where the interest rate is 4.6% or better, or 4.4% if the account has favourable conditions (e.g. you can pay in £500 per month or more, the interest rate is fixed, or if the account matures after at least 2 years).
I have now removed the following regular savers as they have announced reductions to their interest rates to below these new thresholds:
Bath BS Homestart Regular Saver at 4.54% (reducing to 4.34% from 3/3/25)
Mansfield BS Young Regular Saver (3rd Issue) at 4.5% (reducing to 4.25% from 7/3/25)24 -
