Thanks @Bob2000, that does sound odd.Bob2000 said:
Well, today, they returned £12.62 to my current account from the same RS as mentioned above. Don't know why because l always deposit exactly £50 on the 1st by SO??10_66 said:Principality 1 Year Triple Access
I opened this last April and it's now got the full £600 in it. Can anyone confirm if Principality adhere to their maximum limits, please (I'm afraid my memory fails me), as there's another couple of months' left before it matures?
So I can't see them letting an extra £50 slipp past them!0 -
Slid in an application for the Santander RS at 5% as it was fixed rate, at 11.59am. Confirmed at 12.00. Will be interesting to see what happens now we've had a 0.25% interest rate cut to the variable savers.

Was there £12.62 interest at some point? I remember this being questioned here when the account launched, due to the mid term payment of interest.Bob2000 said:

Though April to February = 11 payments, so surely they should only reject entirely if the interest had been more than £50 to take the balance to £600. Impossible given the rate and maximum balance involved. I overfunded one a few months ago and they returned the excess but not the whole payment.2 -
From 30/4/24 == 2/12/24 £50 Standing orders.Kim_13 said:

Then 1/1/25. £12.56 then another £50 on the 2/1/25 and finally 3/2/25 £37.35?
I spoke to a staff member at my local branch and she's wasn't sure why.0 -
Good thinking. Was still available 10 or so minutes ago so I've done the same.Slinky said:Slid in an application for the Santander RS at 5% as it was fixed rate, at 11.59am. Confirmed at 12.00. There might have been some logic had they done this in January, as your balance increased by more than £50 then due to the interest.Bob2000 said:

I would contact them and consider complaining. Clearly your balance has only increased by £37.35 in February so they should have accepted the £12.65, as you were paying in the maximum permitted and no more. They should also accept £50 or a top up to £600 next month, whichever is lower.1 -
Yes, I was exactly the same! St Albans being my nearest branch of the Nottingham, I used to pop up there to open a new Virgin every couple of months, updating my Nottingham passbooks at the same time, as they had a few regular savers going at the same timeallegro120 said:
It used to be a common practice across BS branches regardless specifics of your journey. At some point I began helping myself with coffee machine at arrival to my local Virgin branch to speed up the process. It wasn't very long ago, but before the merger, they were launching new RS issues every 2 months for quite a while (all at 3%, which was a very competitive rate at the time), a lot of branch visits so all members of staff knew my face and my name.surreysaver said:
Nottingham make you a cup of coffee when you make a day trip to open an accounthappybagger said:
I decided to take a day trip out and open this in person (existing customer) in branch. They said that I was the first they'd had (though they "don't know what the others have had"). Also said they weren't aware of the account when a customer came in to ask about it on Monday... so internal comms may have been a bit lacking.dcs34 said:
Loughborough Holiday Monthly Saver 31.05.2026
As with other building societies I think Loughborough make use of their branch network to help manage the burden of manual administration when the central office functions get...overwhelmed...during peak times (i.e. when a new account gets posted on here!). So it's possible your applications have been sent off to different teams for processing and hence will have slightly different speeds of getting looked at.
For me, very efficient and staff were pleasant, no cup of tea though.
When you need to make a withdrawal (or close) you do need to send the passbook with form or signed letter, and they will only do it by cheque (cash if in branch of course too) but they won't do BACS or FP. Withdrawals "to-bank" can only be done by CHAPS at a cost of £10.I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0
