although for maximising interest, a later opening in February is beneficial for your husband!
Not so if there's a fixed term end date (which there is), surely?

The 'end of month' thing applies to accounts where the term end is relative to the start.

Loughborough BS sent a message today with account details 'ready from tomorrow' (I presume because CoP wouldn't show today). Account funded.

Pretty good for a society with no online servicing!
At least in Long Eaton branch I visited last September, they were very efficient.  They've pre-filled my application form with info I gave them on the phone when booked the appointment, all went quick.

I'm trying to think of a reason why I would need online servicing for an account like this and can't come up with anything.  I can call them to check my balance, not as convenient as online, but I don't really mind. There are only two "no-onliners" in my BS portfolio, Loughborough and Nottingham :)  I recall pre-online era, I hardly ever bothered checking my balances, just visited branches for openings and closures. Mansfield has online servicing, but I still had to send a letter with passbook and received the cheque by post when the account matured.

Yes, agree - I'm quite happy sending money to these places and trust but everyone's different. I guess the main advantage for me would be ability to empty the account if the interest rate became uncompetitive (something we had to nip to a Nottingham BS branch for recently...).

Didn't realise there was a branch in Long Eaton, that's somewhere else I go fairly frequently too.

Mine too was opened around 11am this morning after emailing my completed application form at 1:30pm yesterday. However my husband’s hasn’t yet been opened even though his application form was emailed only four minutes after mine. Hopefully it’s opened tomorrow or he’ll have to phone them to make sure they received it.
He could also check his credit reports for any ID checks carried out - I did this when sending off for an account with Hanley Economic, who ID checked me electronically despite my having sent physical ID proofs with the application.

For those sending by post, if including the list items, it might be worth including a note asking for anything original to be returned with the passbook. It shouldn't cost them anything more to do this as they have to send the passbook anyway, but not all providers return what was sent to them as standard.

It's on High Street, 1 minute walk from Tesco (free parking :) .  I've also checked that there is a range of next door mainstream banks in case I will want to cash my cheque in branch instead of app, there are at least two few steps away from Loughborough branch.

Chorley BS Regional 2 Year Flexible Saver (31.01.2027)
I think this is the first time I've seen Chorley introduce postcode restrictions, although I could of course be completely wrong. Disappointing that it's not a fixed rate and pretty low at 5.15% but unlike their normal regular saver it does allow two withdrawals a year plus closure.
    I'll ponder it for now.

Furness BS Christmas Regular Saver Issue 1 online maturity options
I'm looking at the online maturity options; on 'Internal Transfers' my Christmas Regular Saver Issue 2 is being offered.  I'm just wondering if anyone has tried transferring all their Issue 1 into their Issue 2 ?
Would be nice to have £6700+ additional in the Issue 2 at 5.25% for another 10 months or so.
