They are aware as there is a banner across the top of their homepage.
No account closures permitted until they sort it, apparently.
"We are aware of an issue with interest payments on the Regular Saver Account. We are working to resolve the issue and putting members accounts back to the correct position.

Until this issue has been resolved, for a short period, you will not be able to close your Regular Saver Account.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and can reassure all members their accounts will be corrected shortly."

I hope they only correct the wrong payment on RS accounts that received interest.  My RS Issue 1 had no interest credited, and I think others here have mentioned the same.

Oh well, to be expected, I don't blame them, if it help them keep afloat, all good.  I will still be staying with them once it is sorted, it was nice to see it though.
I attempted to withdraw and close from my Issue 1 this afternoon after noticing that the rate is dropping to 4.5% later this month, and I need the funds soon. The interest accrued looked reasonable (it shows what is accrued when you confirm closure), and it allowed me to withdraw and close the account. I'll hopefully receive the money later today.

Sounds like a different issue of the RS. Mine is at 6%

I'm taking Issue 1 to be the RS at 4.75% and Issue 2 to be the one at 6%.

Both dropping by 0.25% on 20th Jan.

And where is it written that the rates are dropping on 20th Jan ? This is totally new for me and nothing can be read neither on the Darlington BS website nor on 'our' no chat forum, unless am totally blind or the decision has been taken 5 seconds ago

Can’t find it either. You’d have thought they might hold the RS rates as an apology for their interest and closures suspended blunder.

Have they written to affected customers? Are they also restricting withdrawals? Surprised this is taking them so long to resolve.

I did wonder that, as restricting withdrawals (or even withdrawals not being processed as quickly as usual due to their teams working on fixing the interest issue) would be unreasonable. People may need access to their money while having no intention of trying to pocket the interest paid in error.

I was overpaid and have not been personally contacted.
