I posted my Mansfield application first class last Friday. No contact received from them as yet. Was hoping to fund electronically before month end.
Anybody else new to the society received communication yet?

@Slinky, I posted mine first class on Saturday and hadn’t heard anything so I phoned them up this morning and after passing security I was informed my account was opened yesterday. I had sent a cheque which was processed yesterday so am able to fund in February. Passbook and letter sent by them as well but not yet received. I did ask CS about not receiving an email and was told they don’t automatically send them. Maybe give them a ring and ask for payment details as hopefully yours has been opened too, you can’t rely on the post getting to you by month end

I posted mine second class last Friday and I'm new to the society. Today my cheque has cleared from my current account but I'm yet to receive anything in the post or by email.

Thanks for this, I just phoned and my account was opened today. They've had hundreds of applications, and lots of phone calls asking the same question. Have funded for January.
Next call, Dudley.

They could save so much time having to answer phones if they just had a system of sending a holding email to say account is being opened!
I also sent application 1st class at the weekend, but won't phone them yet …

I posted mine on Thursday by 2nd class. I know the account was opened today because £250 was taken from my current account. The plan was to open with £250 cheque and top it up to £500 before the end of January. It was a mistake on my behalf, based on previous experience I thought I will receive my passbook earlier. Tomorrow is the last day for funding this month allowance and I don't have my account number. Tried to call to find out my account number several times during the day, no luck, they are too busy and call back option is not convenient for me. I'll try again tomorrow or maybe I'll be lucky to receive my passbook tomorrow, but I think the chances for full funding this month are very slim. Lesson learned.
Note about e-mail communication for branch/postal accounts. In my experience you get e-mails about interest rate changes and some other generic info, the rest is sent by post.

I posted mine on Monday, they sent me an email on Tuesday to confirm they received my application and were processing it. Cheque hasn't debited my account yet as of today.

Drat. My Dudley payment has bounced back. Will check with them tomorrow.

Same. First class (and with a real stamp!). Nothing yet. Cheque was enclosed but still hasn't been drawn.
I sent to Chesterfield branch hoping to avoid the head office application stack - looks like I overthought it 😕
