Mansfield BS Interest Rate Reductions 1/2/26:

Mansfield BS Bonus Regular Savings (Issue 8) ~~~ Reduction from 5.25% to 5.1% (both rates include a 1.85% bonus for 12 months).
My MBSBRS(8) account`s 12 month 1.85% bonus rate runs out at the end of this month. Is it possible to close the account withdrawing final balance to nominated account and then a few days later open a new one?
You can close the account and open a new one but it'd have to be done in branch or by post. I tried requesting a withdrawal by faster payment previously for their branch/post accounts but they've stated there'd be a charge for this so if withdrawing by post it'd have to be by cheque or internal transfer.

I seem to recall some have been able to close the Bonus RS and enclose a completed application form for a new one to be able to refresh the account but I've not tried this myself.

YBS Christmas 2026 RS to be launched at 5% shortly

    £150/mth max
    Matures 31/10/26
1 withdrawal day per year plus closure
Can skip months if you wish
    Must be 16+ to apply
Can be opened online, in branch or by post.

I'm assuming that the YBS Christmas 2026 will be an underwhelming variable rate?  :/

    YBS Xmas Saver

Seems to have gone live on their site

Think I will pass. If the interest rate was fixed or the amount permitted was higher I might have been tempted but after a flurry of loads of RS accounts over the last 18 months I can no longer be bothered with underwhelming accounts such as this.
From recent experiences, YBS sometimes offer a variable rate but don't reduce it even if the base rate falls - the £50 regular saver at 8% never dropped if I remember correctly?
Still, I haven't got the capacity for any more regular savers at the moment, so I'll pass on this one too.

I notice Dudley BS Loyalty One Year Regular Saver is now 5.75%, from 6.0%, although page 1 states tomorrow's date.  I think it may have changed yesterday, don't recall receiving notification from Dudley BS of this change.
