@thechubbyunicorn I’m so, so sorry to hear about your DH. My thoughts are with you ❤️ I love the changes you’ve made (I think we all want to steal the cake one for next year for sure!).
I can’t even begin to imagine what going back to work was like, remember to take the time and space you need to focus on you as well x
I know I’ve been missing from this thread loads, but if there’s anything at all we can do to support you in whatever small way, please let us know xxx
As for me, August was a big one… because WE HAVE A KITCHEN AGAIN 🎉 After months of dust, chaos and coming up with yet another air fryer “masterpiece,” I can finally say the builders have packed up. Honestly, I don’t know what’s more exciting, having cupboards again or not having to shout over a drill just to hear myself think.
And as if that wasn’t enough, we ticked off some other big-ticket wins too, like painting the fence (which, naturally, wasn’t on a list anywhere 🙄) funny how the unlisted jobs are always the ones that eat whole weekends!
Here’s where August left me:
🚂 Chugging Along Nicely
👥 Do things with Family/Friends – 17/25
🍀 Competitions – 7/12 - finally had a win again, £20 which was swiftly added to my savings pot.
🧘 Mindfulness – 35/52
💸 Budgeting – 35/52 – Massive catch up in August so now fully back on track.
🎁 Treat Myself – 22/25
🎉 Celebrate 25 Things – 7/25 - Eldest DD’s amazing GCSE results 🎓🥳.
📝 Master To-Do List – 7/25 - Half of it’s irrelevant, the rest isn’t even on the list! I promised to update it last month… naturally forgot. This weekend. For real this time!
🧹 Deep Clean/Declutter – 8/25 – Sounds so sad but I can’t wait to get fully started on this now there’s not a cement mixer in the way!
🥫 Food Bank Donations – 12/25
📦 Loft/Garage Clear-out – 7/25
🧠 Learn/Do New Things – 8/25 - Went scrumping for apples… turns out we’re rubbish at it 😂
🎥 Films – 11/25 - 2 in August, including The Thursday Murder Club well worth the wait! Pierce Brosnan’s accent wasn’t!👀 Needs More Focus (aka running out of excuses!)
✍️ Journal Prompts – 0/25 - still scared of my own brain.
🧁 Hobbies – 4/25 – I’ve missed this one so much, but dust & hobbies don’t mix so I can’t wait to get back to things this month
🗺️ Family Adventures – 6/25 – Apparently taking my family to Screwfix / HomeSense / B&Q etc. doesn’t count!
📸 Photo Organising – 9/52 - miles behind with this one!
🎲 Play Games – 5/25 – Nothing again last month unless I’m allowed to add arguing over paint colours and seeing who’ll break first between me & DH?
👟 10,000 Step Days – 11/25 - no change which is shocking given how often I stormed off muttering “I can’t take living without a kitchen anymore”!!!!👑 Already Completed (but still counting and adding to)
🎧 25 Albums – 26/25 - 13 in August alone because builders are noisy and thank goodness I have noise cancelling headphones!
⚖️ 25lbs Lost – 30/25 - over 5 stone in total now which still feels surreal and I know I need to treat myself and get some clothes that actually fit but there’s something stopping me even though I know I look ridiculous in my old clothes. I think it’s still a massive hang up over not knowing what I like, what will suit and that shopping was a complete chore and embarrassment when you’re bigger.
📚 25 Books – 27/25 – Just finished the new Steve Cavanagh and now totally disappointed I need to wait a year for the next one!
💷 Save £2025 – £3,470.79/£2025 – Still pinching myself with this one🛍️ Sell 25 Things – 48/25 - Another 13 things shifted in August, still plenty to go but I think I’ve done more this year than the past 2 years combined!
📺 25 Documentaries – 27/25 - none logged in August which isn’t like me at all! So I’m presuming I just forgot to make a note of them!Hope everyone else is keeping well x
You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same4 -
