Sorry I haven't updated in a bit, DH is quite ill in hospital. I might try and pick some of this back up this week as I need a distraction and something to focus on. This challenge includes everything I love and I can't wait to get back to our boring lives doing all the simple things we love.3

Updating
1. Finished my paperback of The midwifes confession' by Diane Chamberlain, and still persisting with the audiobook of Britney but Ive lost interest in it. I will finish it. Also going to start on Billy Connelly's autobiography today.
11. I watched two documentaries - one last night called 'Inside the cult of the Jesus Army' and then finished a documentary series called ' Northwood Survival' which is a lifestyle show about 4 people living within the arctic circle. +2
15. Did 35 minutes on my exercise bike this morning and will be doing a 10 - 15 minute bike ride with daughter in a bit to go and post something I sold on vinted :-) +1
23. Husband surprised me this morning by saying he had booked a night away for us this weekend for us to go up to mid Wales to Machynlleth. I have never been there before but he said its a lot of little quirky shops that Id love. I think we are planning to stop in Aberystwyth on the way up or back so Im going to count that as 2 more dates with the husband +2

this year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk3 -
Hello lovely lot! I've been MIA but I'm surfacing from under the rubble, boxes, and a kitchen-that-isn't! to share my July check-in. We're now seven months in (how?!), and despite life being a whirlwind of builder chaos and dust, I’ve somehow still made some decent progress — and a fair bit of it without actually knowing what day it is anymore!
On the plus side, we're 8 weeks into the renovations and think we only have another 2 to go before we start getting the house back (and maybe even a working cooker 🙏). So lots of cleaning, sorting and organising is on the horizon!
Welcome @sammykaye of course you can join us, you're doing so well already, you've managed more date nights than I did in the whole of 2024 🤣 Also snap re the Inside the cult of the Jesus Army docu. What shocked me more is I'm quite interested in cults, etc and I'd never heard of this one, which was even more shocking given it was recent and in the UK!
Welcome @mandco it's fab to have new people join, especially as you've been keeping pace from what I can see - HUGE congrats for sticking with it 🥳
@thechubbyunicorn hoping your DH is on the mend 💕
@weenancyinAmerica I was getting like that in previous years and I've noticed I'm slipping this year as well. I've popped my goals and the background info into ChatGPT and asked it to come up with a weekly plan for me for August, so I'm going to see how that goes and if it helps.
@DundeeDoll - Good on you for already thinking about next year, I keep on repeating a load of mine year in year out as I've never managed to do them all, so will definitely be looking for new ideas as well.
Here’s where I’m at heading into August:
🚂 On Track (31 Weeks / >14 for Year Goals)
👥 Do 25 Things with Family/Friends – 15/25
🍀 Enter an average of 25 competitions per day / per month - 7/12
🎧 Listen to 25 New-to-Me Albums – 13/25 Recent faves - F1: The Movie Soundtrack and What Happens Now? by Dasha. Any recommendations are very welcome!🧘 Mindfulness (25 mins/week) – 30/52 - Teetering on the weekly target, but close enough (and we still have a few days left this week!).
📚 Read 25 Books – 23/25 - Currently on a full-blown John Ellsworth binge. I keep saying I’ll switch to something else… and then just start the next one 🙈
🎁 Treat/Do Something for Me – 19/25
👀 Needs More Focus
✍️ Answer 25 Journal Prompts – 0/25 - No change. Still scared of my own thoughts!
💸 Budgeting/Planning (25 mins/week) – 24/52 - Fallen off slightly, but I need to play catch up over the next few days so hoping this will move back into the on-track section.
🎉 Celebrate 25 things – 6/25 - Struggling with this due to the lack of anything that doesn't involve the house! Any recommendations welcome
🧁 Complete 25 Hobbies That Make Me Happy – 4/25 - This has been completely paused due to the dust haze and I've missed it so much. Really looking forward to getting back to this one
📝 Complete 25 Things Off Master To-Do List – 6/25 - Must revisit the list now as I suspect half of it is outdated or done without me realising!
📦 Deep Clean / Declutter 25 Areas – 6/25 – Some big clears done already, but with the house in chaos, this one’s paused. Should ramp back up when the kitchen’s usable again.
🥫 Food Bank Donations – 11/25 - With the shopping habits all over the place lately, this one slipped my mind. Aiming to pick this back up as things calm down.
📦 Get Rid of 25 Items from Loft/Garage – 6/25 - This one's been on pause since May, stuff’s been shoved everywhere. Once the house resets, I’m planning a full-on blitz.
🗺️ Have 25 fun family adventures / day's out etc.- 6/25
🧠 Learn/Do 25 New Things – 7/25 - Managed a fab long weekend away with DD when she finished her GCSEs. First time away with just the two of us and Mallorca was a first for me too! Won't be the last visit for sure.🛒 Make 25 Donations to Charity – 12/25
📸 Organise Photos – 14/52
🎲 Play 25 Games – 5/25
👟 Walk 10,000 Steps 25 Times – 11/25 - Honestly thought the chaos would make escaping for a walk more appealing, but so far... nope 😅
🎥 Watch 25 New-to-Me Films – 9/25 - Latest addition: Heads of State. A good mix of thrillers and crime dramas plus a few “documentaries-in-disguise” according to Netflix 😂
👑 Already Completed
⚖️ Lose 25lbs – 29/25 - Still going, slowly but surely! Need to remind myself regularly that I’ve already dropped just over 5 stone in the past year even though I still don't feel like I've achieved anything 😒
💷 Save £2025 – £3,306.24 / £2,025 - Stunned about this one. Hit this early thanks to decluttering / selling madness and somehow it’s still growing. Not gonna lie, feels fab!
🛍️Sell 25 Things – 38/25 - I've cleared more cupboards / shelves in the last 3 months than the last 3 years.
📺 Watch 25 New-to-Me Documentaries – 26/25
Considering I’ve been living in what feels like a part-time construction site, I’m counting this as a win! Some goals might have taken a back seat for now, but once we get our house back (and I can find the kettle without climbing over a toolbox), I’m hoping to catch up with a few more.
Hope you’re all doing OK and ticking off little wins wherever you can. Big hugs to anyone in survival mode right now, we’ve got this 💖
You laugh because I'm different - I laugh because you're all the same2
