Aside from the goals I’ve felt a bit beaten today. We moved and downsized just over a year ago. The house is at times a pinch but we make it  work for the 4 for us, cleaning is a breeze, expenditure has hugely reduced and it always feels homely and cosy. Cue a comment made by a family member as to how small it is, that people who live like this are strange little people living strange little lives. (From someone who had a huge mortgage in place until they are 70 and have house reno works ongoing to the tune of £100K I feel the irony. Very much believe in each to their own and all that but it’s just made me feel sad today. I know I shouldn’t and we are doing fine and have so much more freedom. Just wish people would keep their thoughts to themselves. Anyway. Onwards and upwards.
!!!! Speechless - so rude and who are they to judge ? There are many choices on how to live a life from work, house size, location etc - no one gets to judge another

I have a friend whose mortgage (pre Liz truss ) was £7k a month - of which £5k pm was interest / they had borrowed to rebuild the house to a 2000sq m for 2 of them plus a small child.
Of course once interest rates started going up .. and he lost his job - they now have rented it out and I am not sure what home size they in .,
the stress levels at 1.4% interest rates was huge so you can imagine when they tripled ..

the grocery challenge on here really has helped me
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Yes it was a beer one. Thought it would be boring but actually quite enjoyed it. Managed to read my book at the same time as they gave you ages to answer the questions!

Thank you so much. To be fair they are an idiot so I got over it quickly but people in glass houses and all that. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night with £5k of interest a month!

I am following the grocery challenge now thank you 😀

Ticking out some house things this week. Yesterday I scrubbed out the dishwasher. Pressure washed the drawers which were disgusting. Then ran a self clean cycle and then used a dishwasher cleaner to run a cycle. Slightly less disgusting after!

Today I’ve started to tackle the weeds that have grown for the last 6 months. I let the garden go when I got poorly last year and then couldn’t garden after an operation. I managed an hour before I was whacked. I’m still building strength and stamina back up. Filled a bag of weeds. Managed about 1/6th of the flowerbeds but it’s nice to se brown fresh soil instead of green weeds!

    Super productive money earned day.

£5 ipsos cashed out to Amazon

£20 from survey yesterday received and cashed out to Amazon

    £49.98 in from TCB

Having to ‘make / earn’ our monthly spends have focussed my mind so much on not spending stupidly. The spending pot is now £136.92. I used to budget £250 but would just fritter it away at times. 4th of the month and I’ve spent nothing so far!

Premium bonds failed me this month! Never mind!  Hope some people did win!

Had a couple of quiet days much needed. Got out in the gardening. Still fighting the weeds. DH did a tip run.

    Yesterday
£5 payout on ipsos to an Amazon voucher
    £6.67 from prolific
    NSD

    Today
    £3.75 on a parcel
    £10.40 in a cafe
    £5.62 on some snacks

More spendy than I expected but it’s a one off. So that leaves me £119.97 in the spending pot.

Glad it’s the weekend. Been a spendy couple of days but I don’t know if I class it still as a NSD if it’s budgeted for expenditure. I think I will class it as NSD unless it’s unexpected spending.

    Thursday.
    No money and a NSD

    Friday
    IN
£5 in from vypr and added to the spending pot.
    £1 cashback earned with shopimum

    OUT
£5.77 on some skin care items
Top up shops at Mr T, Aldi and Sains but all in budget.
DS wanted to look at some jeans in Sains but no luck however I’ve been after a lighter winter coat for ages and spotted one in the men’s section for 9.60 down from £32. Then I spotted one for DH that was £13.20 down from £45. He had just managed to get tar on his coat so figured they were good bargains. Bought them on nectar points so pretty pleased with those.

    Spending pot at £105.

Surveys were pretty active yesterday and I just snaffled a £4 on prolific this morning which was approved right away.

Weigh in shows 5lb lost since 1 March.

Off to see some friends today which we haven’t seen for a while and then a quieter Sunday getting some baking, cleaning and resting done

    Have a good weekend all.
