I've just got tickets to london to visit OH but unfortunately no chance of getting money back off them.
Well done on the ebay sales, i was narked at work today, had arranged to sell something, showed the person everything they were just about to hand over the money and then changed their bloomin minds. But have now sold it elsewhere (my sister) but she's got it on HP, will pay at the end of the month.
My friend is doing our nails which would probably cost over £50 and won't accept any money so i've got her a lovely pressy (want to keep it myself) and it was only £15, thank goodness for sales

Once again ironically it will enable me to be a financial advisor(!) - scary thought given the situation I'm in now but hopefully, when I'm clear I'll be wiser and be able to pass that wisdom onto others....hmm... we'll see!!

Yeah, MoneyGypsy, how did you get on??

Well, my diary entry for today, just a little bit to report as been at work so not much going on (which also mean no much spending either so that's good!!).
Bought no lunch, took mine in from home and wasn't tempted to buy chocolate - I've realised the way to get over any cravings is for me to have something on my desk I can nibble on so I'm going to keep fruit and nuts there all the time to prevent chocolate buying!!

I did spend some money on sending a couple of items I've sold on ebay and amazon - spent £8.72 on postage and charged £13 postage on the ebay item so actually made a few ££ over the amount the highest bidder paid for the item so happy with that. Also sold 3 further items today and made £63.65 so, assuming I haven't underestimated on the postage that can go towards my CC statement as well.

Went round to see my parents after Brownies tonight (I run a Brownie pack) and mum needed to book some train tickets so got her to book them through South West trains via Pigsback so should hopefully get some piggy points for that, maybe £30 worth as she paid £67 for her ticket, fingers crossed, I'll check tomorrow!

I think that's it for today, unfortauntely haven't had time to do clicks as only just got home and need to get to bed now as am running with a friend at 6.30am tomorrow!!

  • Been a bit of a mixed day today, not very good really as you'll see from my post above BT added a 'one-off' cancellation fee as I tried to reduce my BT option from 2 to 1 - as many people I know have done before but they have said I signed up for an 18month contract when I connected in October, but I thought this was to BT rather than to the option selected. I have disbuted the charge and have cancelled by direct debit until I have had the chance to talk to someone but does anyone know if I have a leg to stand on if I try and revert back to option 2 again (as though I hadn't changed it at all?) - really can't afford to pay for that! I'll see what they say.

Other than that I sold a couple more ebay items today and another amazon item - I have transfered the money from my Paypal and Amazon accounts so I will add it to my Olympic challenge when the money is in my account and use it to pay towards clearing NW2 OD.

I also arranged for a balance transfer onto the Barclaycard today - no tranmsfer fee and am getting charged 6.9%apr for the life of the balance. I have put the card in my documents box so not tempted to use it.

I think that's it for me - did some grocery shopping - bought 80 Tesco value tea bags for 32p instead of 40 PGtips for 72p - bargain :)

  • Hi all,

Been a bit naughty today as bought lunch instead of taking it in - feel suitably guilty now as I've seen all the good people on the Lunch log challenge who haven't spent anything - must try harder next time!! This is why this site is so good because I do feel shame in admitting I have been naughty!

Other than that all my ebay items have now ended, I think I have made about £115 which I'm quite pleased with given it was all stuff I just wasn't using. I have a few more bits to list but not sure any of it is worth very much but worth a list I guess!

Waiting for the money to transfer to my bank account and then will put it against my NW1 OD as this is the one with the highest interest rate now - got to sell more and do more to get rid of these balances!

How's everyone else doing today? xxx

hi not a bad day for me, found out i've got a job in the new structure which is good news. I'd like to hear more about the financial course you're doing if you don't mind, pm if you'd feel better that way.
I'm off ot visit OH tomorrow so i'm really looking forward to the weekend, wonder if i can do London on ummmmmmmm *checks purse* £2? Could be pushing it a bit.
HOpe it comes out right in the end with BT, i hate them, hated paying so much for the monthly charges and very little for the calls as i didn't make many of them.

    Hi Becky,

Have just been catching up on your thread-sorry I've been off the radar for a bit, lots going on at work, so I've had to be in the office every day this week, instead of being at home, so not really been able to chat as much!

Have you had any further development with BT over the cancellation charge? That's outrageous! I think you were quite right to cancel the DD, but I'm not sure what the legal position would be-have you still got the original paperwork from October?

I think it's a great idea to change cars to get something more affordable, or even do without if you are hoping to be in London-no-one I know who lives there has one as the buses and tubes go everywhere they would need to be. And v sensible too, to want to get rid of the nastiest debts before making your move-always good to have a mini back up fund put by when you're moving, and you can't really do that when you have to pay silly interest on the CCs...

Hope you have a good, and low spending day tomorrow, and what great news about your friends engagement!
