YES, no question. Maybe they’ll spend the money on another nice trip for you all.2

100% yes, I can't imagine why you are asking this question!3

50 / 50 is fair - they paid for the holiday but you had the inconvenience and the stress of it all.0

Brie said:So you got a free holiday AND £2k in cash? The fact that this is even a question is insane. Be grateful you were treated to a holiday. I hope they don’t make the mistake of taking you again3

How much was the holiday? £200 per head bargain or £3000 per person luxury trip? Who paid for the expenses incurred when the flight had to be rebooked?
I'd say the expenses should be covered out of the total, if not covered by travel insurance or the airline at the time. Then see what's left and portion it out accordingly- if there's enough to pay off the whole holiday with some left over, keep the leftovers.
I'd be inclined to keep the kids portion and put into savings account-several hundred pounds is a nice lump sum to add into a long term saver, and most grandparents wouldn't begrudge that. And then I'd give my parents/in laws the "adults" portion- they paid for the holiday. Even if they weren't going to claim, and you did all the leg work, you still benefitted over all (and may well do again in future). To avoid any issues with the kids portion, offer for it to go in a JISA, even if the rate isn't as good. They'll know it is definitely for the kids then.Make £2025 in 2025- £751.88/£2025
Make £2024 in 2024- £852.21/£2024
97/200- bust my craft stash 2025!
166/200- bust my craft stash 2024! £106.80 spent
211/200- bust my craft stash 2023!0 -
Yes. Of course you should.1

who forked out for the meals, hotel room etc whilst you were waiting for the delayed flightsif it was the in-laws as who booked the holiday then they should get the moneyif it was person x then giving it al the compensation to your in-laws means person x loses out, but then its upto your in-laws to reimburse then and make it clear to person x that the inlaws have got the entire compensation and if they are out of pocket to deal with themDebt of £6300 cleared in 5 years, now ZERO0

Give them the money. You want £3k for filling a form? and a bit of stress, oh yeah and a free holiday. Sorry to hear you were inconvenienced by the delay.1

They paid for your holiday so you should pay them back their compensation at the very least. They may have their reasons for not claiming but now that you’ve claimed on their behalf you should play fair.2
