My understanding is, you still list your item at your price - so £20 for example.
eBay will then add their fee onto the price and the buyer will see a breakdown - so the buyer will see the £20, and see the fee, and the total.

They will withhold funds until 2 days after delivery as this not only encourages sellers to post quickly - the quicker you post the quicker you get paid - it also means that the buyer has 2 days after delivery to check the item, and in the event of a dispute eBay still has the funds to 'hold' until the dispute is resolved.

You obviously read the announcement - which is more than some , yes sellers don't have to add the extra, their price remains the same but buyer will see an automatically adjusted price.

That was my first thought when I saw the original announcement and some of the subsequent ones as well .

Ebay is NOT free to sell if your item is sold interantionally, there are international fees to be paid.
Ebay state that the NEW buyer fee has to come off the price the buyer 'SEES'.
Therefore we assume that the seller must add the buyer fee to the sale price.
SO if my item was originally listed for £20 I now have to list it for £21.55 (thats 20x4%=80p plus 75pmaking 21.55.) This covers the buyer fee.
It is difficult to understand why Ebay have a two day delay in paying the seller once the item is delivered?
Sellers also should be aware that they will have to wait for the reimbursement of postage costs too.
That's the old way.  For years and years sellers had to work out how much they wanted then add extra to cover the fees.

Now eBay themselves add the fee for the buyer to see, as explained by a couple of others.  You decide how much you want, list it at that price, and eBay does the rest.

I guess you still need to have an idea of the total price with the buyers fee, as it could make something that you've listed at a competitive price, not very competitive at all from the buyer's perspective once the fee is taken into account. Only way round that would be to drop your selling price a little. It could be the difference to getting the item sold.....

Wouldn't this show up when you've done a draft listing and then previewed it?

I suspect it might do, but until someone lists on the 4th Feb and reports back it isn't certain.

I'm unfortunately away again so my holiday settings will be going on on the 2nd Feb, but I will see if anyone reports back whether there is a breakdown of what the buyer sees at the end of the listing process before the seller confirms.

I suppose as you are not going to be paying a listing fee there is nothing lost.  If it doesn't sell you can relist at a lower price if you wish.
In the future, if you are looking at sold prices to determine the value, I wonder if those will show the price the seller received or the gross price paid by the buyer?

I may well be wrong but I assumed sold price searching was meant as a guide to buyers, although sellers use it. So if it is the former it will show the price the item sold for. I don't think it's a terrible system moving forward. This forum is littered with people saying they didn't realise they'd be charged so much for selling an item. As we've seen already, people will still manage to confuse themselves, no matter what they do!
