2 weeks passed, with no delivery and no further tracking updates.
Then Evri arrive with another purchase I had made so I mention the missing item.Turns out the scanner wouldn't recognise the label even when the number was typed in manually so the driver had left it in her vehicle and forgotten about it.
So, I got my parcel but the tracking on eBay has never completed and according to the new rules they seller wouldn't get paid.
General chat seems to be that money will be released either after a set time, or when item shows as delivered whichever is first, unless an INR is opened.
I don't see how it can be deemed delivered if it isn't tracked to delivery or if there isn't an option in the listing to do so manually
this is what they told me, if item is sent tracked funds won't be released until tracking shows delivered, here's a screen shot oftheir response. in law that response is a legally binding statement.

” What’s changing for private sellersWe recently made changes to our fee structure so it’s free for private sellers to sell on eBay (excl. Vehicles). As part of this, from 4 Feb, a Buyer Protection fee will be added to listings from UK-based private sellers so we can make investments into these protections. This fee will be included in the item price and be paid for by the buyer. As a reminder, this is free of charge for business sellers. To give buyers more protection and encourage timely shipment, private sellers will be paid once the item is delivered. There’s no change for business sellers and you’ll still receive your payouts as quickly as you do today.”The Buyer Protection fee will be calculated as:
- A flat fee of £0.75 per item, and
- 4% of the item price up to £300, and
- 2% of any portion of the item price from £300 to £4,000
yes i'ts a farse, buyers already have to much protection. ebay claimed to me once they take an equal stance but they do'nt form my own experiences and many thousands of others i've seen across the internet it's shocking how easy it is for a buyer to win even with overwhelming evidence form the sellers side. but now people are asking why am I being charged a fee as a buyer for a so called extra protection i should already have! look at the word investment, that's legal jargin wording use to bamboozle people, it could mean anything, but if you you are smart enuogh then you will hit the nail on the head.because what are they doing with funds in the meantime, possibly investing it? also what happens to fund not released to seller because tracking shows not delivered, but buy hasn't opened a case to say they didn't get their item. What then, and back again to that clever word of "investments" Also how does holding sellers funds give any extra protection for buyers, ebay are not explaining that. anything could happen to you item over 2 days as well!

yes but you have the choice to transfer it straight it away, that's the difference, so I got the money to pay the courier as well.

I notice when I purchased postage from Ebay yesterday morning, there was a message at the top of the page stating that Royal Mail are having tracking problems at the minute. They need to iron that type of thing out before this policy comes into place.0

Ebay is NOT free to sell if your item is sold interantionally, there are international fees to be paid.
Ebay state that the NEW buyer fee has to come off the price the buyer 'SEES'.
Therefore we assume that the seller must add the buyer fee to the sale price.
SO if my item was originally listed for £20 I now have to list it for £21.55 (thats 20x4%=80p plus 75pmaking 21.55.) This covers the buyer fee.
It is difficult to understand why Ebay have a two day delay in paying the seller once the item is delivered?
Sellers also should be aware that they will have to wait for the reimbursement of postage costs too.0 -

your comment 'SO if my item was originally listed for £20 I now have to list it for £21.55 (thats 20x4%=80p plus 75pmaking 21.55.) This covers the buyer fee.' suggests that you have either not read, or have failed to understand where the new buyer premium is being added.
Also just another tip if you are new to ebay, International fees can be high, and the new buyer premium will affect that, but consider using GSP as that does away with all those extra charges.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
