We'd like to check members have all the badges they're entitled to. Below are some of our badges. Just click to Request! [...] These badges are automatically awarded by the Forum Team, but if you think you've missed being awarded one of these badges, please let us know in the request.
Out of curiosity, how many such requests does the forum team receive? I'm conscious that there's a lot of workload in running the forum and personally it seems to me that dealing with things like badges might detract from (what I'd consider to be) important stuff!
Personally, I find that being able to recognise people's achievements / contributions via a badge is a nice counterbalance to dealing with some of the heavier / more difficult stuff that comes our way on the Forum Team, and doesn't take an undue amount of time.
For example I try to keep an eye on the mortgage-free and debt-free 'roll of honour' threads and award the relevant badges to people who've shared their success stories - it's a good reminder of why we do what we do here at MSE
You can see for yourself by clicking on a badge on our Badge page that many badges haven't been awarded in quite a long time. That's why we're very eager to reinvigorate the Badges and encourage members to ask for ones they deserve.
We realise that collecting badges isn't for everyone, but anything that helps members with their MoneySaving (and other) goals is something we want to help with.
Whether it be collecting badges, participating in challenges (we've soft-launched a Challenges Section here to collect those), or just posting on the forum to support each other.

I'm with you really - it's just childish nonsense in my opinion
Remember there are some people who have gone through their lives so far with ZERO recognition of their achievements, a badge from MSE might be just the boost they need to aim higher.

But I can also see people have apparently "points" in five digit figures, but there's no way the number of points I get will go anywhere near near that, a very rough estimate is 1300/1400 points if I get everything.
What am I missing? No that I'm really bothered but how are other people getting such high points?

In addition to points being awarded for badges, other actions such as making posts, receiving 'Thanks,' and receiving 'Compliments' can also award points.
While 'Points' are an integrated part of the platform we use, they are not something we use or highlight on the MSE Forum.
