NST December 2024 – the TARDIS awaits

Stickman was new to me f0xh0les - one of those after my children were the right age (and all mum's partner's great- grandchildren were brought up on rubbish so no help there).
I am ill - not terrible, just wobbly and very very tired. So today I'm mostly on the couch. I have just been outside and brought a few more things in off the line and then came back inside and collected about a half sack of cans and put those in the recycling.
Phoned the solicitors this morning about the identity stuff and I'm to take things into the office (utility bills and bank statements are all online). I said I might go today if I could get in a taxi but my legs are so wobbly I think I'll stay where I am. Lunch was prawn cocktail and half a box of pink coleslaw (beetroot/ pink cabbage and I think there's some grated apple in it). I ignored cost on my last shop, it was all based on ease of preparation, easy to eat and swallow and get as many fresh veg inside me as possible. Mainly watching easy tv (several Christmas specials) and now playing songs. I have 4 small gifts to wrap (2 each for DS2 and his Beloved) which should use up oddments from the roll of red paper.
Grateful for rest, being weary but not in too much pain and having clean clothes - I'm getting through a lot.11 -
grandmanerd, you've done absolutely loads recently. Yes the waste wizards were wonderful. Yes the family meal out was fantastic. Yes you've sorted out presents and posted cards. Now it's time to kick back and look after yourself as much as possible, please. The chaise longue has fairy lights, fluffy blankets and drinks on tap, so you have first dibs on it!ThriftyT, you must be sick to the back teeth of fixing/replacing zips!!!We now have a light-up reindeer and sleigh on our flat roof at the front. We are totally lowering the tone of the neighbourhood!!! We also replaced the non-functioning inside fairy lights so all is merry and bright here. I've made some Christmas bunting from fabric with the pattern on it for a stocking - pennies from a charity shop. I almost had to ask on here for the name of 'bunting string', but remembered in time that it's 'bias binding tape', so I'm feeling all smug and cleverIf you could take a trip in the TARDIS (anywhere in time and space, remember), where would you go???

I’ve totally lost track this December. Last Thursday (12th) was nsd#7 and today was nsd#8. I have found it very difficult as every time I go anywhere or my little ones go anywhere, there always seems to be someone requiring a gift or a donation so struggling with nsds. Also feel ive overspent this Christmas already, although haven’t bought anything unnecessary. Just need so many ‘extras’, teacher gifts, neighbour gifts, club leader gifts, in-laws gifts, children’s friends gifts- it’s all very overwhelming. Looking forward to Friday as then all gifts should be given out and I can start enjoying Christmas.

Rest easy @grandmanerd.
@apple_muncher, well done on remembering bias binding 😀 I'd still be trying to remember it tomorrow morning! I do sometimes get fed up with zips, ESPECIALLY tonight. If my machine works well, it doesn't take long, but tonight, it took me over 2 hours!!! If I had £1 for every time I had to re-thread the needle, I could retire comfortably! The air was blue, I had to keep taking my glasses off to thread the needle & now I feel very stressed! Sorry, rant over!
Was up at 6.30 to wake DS3 up for work. Did yoga & Norwegian & packed my lunch. Work went ok & I managed to calm down angry children. Phew!
Had a belated birthday present at home when I arrived. It included a large glass pineapple with a silver lid & straw to drink cocktails from, plus 3 cans of cocktails & some pampering things 😀 a nice surprise!
Grateful for not going cross eyed, that the bl***y zip is finished, surprise presents

Sorry for not posting for a few days, it’s been a slightly manic weekend. Saturday was an NSD but I had to drive DSIL2 up to just outside of London, went up to London to visit my nephew in hospital and went to meet a possible new pet…who we loved so we brought her home on Sunday. She’s a little 6 month old kitten, with bundles of energy and such a cheeky personality but so incredibly friendly and loving already. Due to getting some bits for her, and paying the adoption fee, Sunday and Monday have been spend days. NSDs now at #8.
I’m thankful for my gorgeous little kitten, that my nephew seems to be improving a little and for having had a quiet day at work today, after a crazy weekend.8 -
Ooh a new kitten @Betharooni how lovely
I am sure he or she will enjoy scaling the Christmas tree
Years ago when we had kittens they would always do this. Hope your nephew gets better soon.
Still on NSD #7, and today won't be one as it is shopping day. It won't be a big shop, though OH will probably want a few extra bits to put away for Christmas.I didn't sleep well again for some reason, and got up early so might try to nap later. Someone is supposed to be picking something up at 7.45 am .... or maybe this evening. Not the greatest communicator. Wonder if they will turn up? Got to love FB MarketplaceOH has mended a very nice old chair for DD1, and it seems to have taken up residence in the living room. Hopefully it will return home soon! Although it looks very nice, we don't have room for another chair.7 -

Howdy all! I've managed 11 spend free days. My bank have almost sorted out my hacked credit card and, since it's December, there is work aplenty.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

My little car failed it's MOT today, for my horn had lost its parp 📯. How much can a small parp be? £330! Surprise! So no car til Thursday and a £600 bill, but it will be safe and serviced and will continue for a while until I get a newer one. It is 15 now, and mostly neglected by me for 12 of them. Insurance is under £200 this year, 🎉
