I agree that the podcast would be a good soft start before going into videos. Will make you think about and play with structure and language, how to share etc. without being as exposing as video. It’s interesting how easily all this seems to be coming together now - the art class, the colleague at work being interested in joining in, the electrician responding quickly etc. It’s like you’ve found that flow and balance you were looking for 😊

Hi savingholmes, you're recording sounds really interesting. I'm not sure what software you're using but OBS is very good. It allows you to add in animations via a browser source and you can put filters on your mic input so it cuts out any background noise etc. Apologies if you know all of this already 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

I think MSE is a great place to come for support, but don't neglect your real life for us. Its nice to see you post and we're all following your journey but your priority is getting things done for you, not letting us know about it. We'll be here waiting for your posts whenever you can make it.
I've probably said this before, but cleaners who you can trust to just get on with it are like gold dust. You don't realise that until you've lost one or in my case two. I like a cleaner who can get on with the tough jobs and make the place sparkle. The last one I had turned up and asked me what I wanted her to do, well ... clean. I thought they would come with a standard list and then just adjust it to suit the client but clearly not. The reason I went through an agency was so that I didn't have to supervise them, but the agency I used was more like an introduction and then they left them to it. The last one I had just liked to flick a duster around, she cleaned very badly - well I can clean badly myself - so that's what I do now
Good luck with the podcasting."Think of many things, do one"

Thanks Jwil, KK, Sandy and @Jessy103 - and welcome
Thanks Jessy - appreciate you taking the time to post. I found 0BS at the weekend thanks to a prompt from CoPt - and managed to record some videos on it - really pleased with them. Now I need to breakdown the videos and work out how to add transitions, animations etc. I'm familiar with C&nv& so I've found some useful intro and outro type templates to use - including for adding links to other videos. The latter part of design stuff I'm in my comfort zone with.
0BS one was a lifesaver at the weekend as I'd plugged a mic into my phone and hadn't realised it was on mute and then tried to record using both phone cam and laptop cam. I was gutted when I tried to play back the phone video and realised the sound wasn't there!! Initially I couldn't find my 0bs video either and got really worried - but then I found it and calm was restored. I'm hoping that recording via multiple devices will help me frame different angles to make it more interesting for the viewer. I'm also hoping to keep the sound track but show me doing art etc - so need to work out quite how to do that yet too.
I am still trying to establish what are reasonable set up costs. One of my current worries is potential insurance costs... I'm trying to get a few videos together in as low cost a way as possible - before I commit to bigger costs like insurance, possible other types of hosting (podcast dispersal between channels) etc... C&nv& just paying monthly for now although that is likely to change...

Thanks Jwil - started to feel more confident about video after this weekend's efforts.
Thanks Sandy on the reassurance of RL versus keeping up with diaries. I have benefitted so much from this forum - and many of you have cheered me on for years - I don't want to lose that. I need to free up more time though so need a better balance than I've had post divorce.
KK - I have an electrician and a joiner coming to quote Friday. The others that I had round are now ignoring me... I've earmarked money from my savings towards the work - so my CC debt doesn't grow further - and I don't feel too much pressure on my budget. Some money was paid off CCs yesterday - however I've also been doing some re-spending so will review at the end of the pay month. My spending diary is eye opening! I've continued to have extra spending due to my business idea - and the need for things like tripods, lights, hubs etc...
Just a reminder to people to keep on top of any auto-renewals - despite setting my flag to not auto-renew - Av&&& tried to take £ despite me having moved to a new provider. Apparently their flat won't change if you don't set it to not auto-renew at least 4 weeks before the due date!!! All sorted now.
I went for a walk yesterday and today which was good. I have tried to create some adult 'star charts' to motivate me to do a whole host of daily/weekly tasks I otherwise struggle with. A 20 min daily walk is now on the list... I feel I am doing better mental health wise - despite struggling to focus sometimes. I'm planning to scale back my counsellor to compensate for my increased cleaner costs... I can always adjust it again later if I need to.
I just rested yesterday evening and listened to a story. I still feel really tried today so that must have been what I needed. Hope you are all doing well.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

SH - we will all be here for you when you come along to say hello and give us an update. Likewise when you pop in to see us on our diaries but we understand that you might not be able to visit us as often.6

Sounds good SH. I stream myself on a platform called Twitch. It's mainly for streaming video games but there is also a lot of irl streams and podcast streams, which may be of interest to you 🙂Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.

Hope you get some decent quotes. I hate it when people just go silent, I'd much rather they said they didn't want the job.
Well done on the walking."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
All that video chat is interesting but goes way above my head lol. Glad it is working out and good learning curve if frustrating.
Trades who do not get back to you are so annoying yes why not just say. I always tell those I do not chose if they have quotes so they know if I am not using them. You should really get the benefit of that garden once the weather warms up I love the spring flowers my snowdrops have been out ages already cheers me up.
