  • Been on a 3 day tag/comment ban, says lifted today, but still restricted now (it's well over 72hrs)🤷‍♀️

Have reported it to the 'Help Centre'... and the fact that my account status shows no restrictions whatsoever.

This happened to me a few weeks ago and I actually uninstalled and reinstalled the app before it went away...

Instagram is a form of comping torture sometimes, all those lovely comps everywhere but you can't touch them 👿

I am once again on a ban too, I found leaving at least a minute in between each comment (whether it’s a tag or not) helped avoid a ban for a while, but alas I now can’t comment again until the 10th.

I'd gone hours before I posted the final non-competition post that got me banned, so I'm not even sure it's the time between comments. I hadn't really entered many competitions today either because I've deliberately been taking it slow and I've also bulking out my comments so they aren't just a couple of words, emojis or tags. I've tried to do some tagging and non-tagging competitions as well as engaging with friends and non-competition posts. I've posted stories and photos recently too. I think they must just have a really sensitive AI auto banner or someone has set up bots to report random comments or something!

I found that once their Bots get you in their sights, you can't do anything - they will repeatedly ban you, and warn you, and restrict you, even if you are posting on non-competiton posts.

It's like IG puts you on the Naughty Step, and there you will stay until they finally take their eyes off you and go and torture some other poor soul instead.

That is what happened to me last year - once they started, they did not stop, even when I stopped doing comps, and was just making normal comments on friends posts.  I use my IG account for sketching, and I don't have anything on my IG page to indicate I'm a Comper.  But once they latched on to me, it didn't matter how innocent my posts were. In the end, I came off IG altogether for a few months.  And during that time the Bots turned their attention elsewhere.

But while you are in their crosshairs, it does make you feel like you're being victimised!!

It reminds me of the post office scandal, I suppose with AI this is what we will have to learn to live with.

I remember years ago when FB was the most popular social media platform for comps, people were getting all kinds of bans for too many likes and shares, there was also Twitter Jail if you retweeted too often.

Seriously? The Post Office Horizon Scandal was an organisation that set out to deliberately lie, prosecuted people, destroyed their lives, jailed them, then when found out continued to lie and even now is deliberately delaying paying out compensation to those people. That was a process that involved hundreds of people making that decision, going all the way to the CEO, members of the board, took place over two decades and resulted in a national scandal and hopefully in the end those responsible being jailed.

This Instagram issue is people deliberately breaking the terms and conditions and not being allowed to use social media for a few days. Do you really think the two are in any way comparable?

If you break a platform's terms and conditions they almost always take action against you. That is hardly surprising and to compare that to Horizon is entirely unreasonable at best.

Well that's how you see it, I see a system that is unfairly targeting certain individuals and not others and that is similar to the horizon software scandal.  maybe it hasn't effected you and you'r not bothered about it. fair enough.

People who breach terms and conditions are punished when their breach is detected. That is not "unfairly targeted" by any rational definition.

If you are bothered about some people not facing sanction for breaching the terms and conditions then report them.

No it is not. Some subpostmasters did not "get away" with anything in relation to the Horizon scandal. Many hundreds of people were deliberately and falsely prosecuted and persecuted, having done nothing wrong, with their lives destroyed by an organisation that explicitly lied both in public and in a court of law.

Horizon did not effect me either, that does not change the fact that this is neither comparable to, nor in any way similar to the Horizon scandal. Claiming that the two are similar shows a complete lack of perspective and claiming that the two are similar shows a complete lack of understanding of one or both situations.

Look all I said is it reminds me me of the horizon post office scandal It's you who jumped to the conclusion that I was comparing that for this and I was not comparing the two like for like, perhaps if you read other peoples comments you will realise people are being unfairly treated and others behaviour on IG is being ignored. I have nothing more to say and will not be replying to your posts!!!!
