PC help - windows are too small

Don't know if this was what you were getting at?
I opened notepad and it filled the middle part of the screen. I maximised it, then closed with CTRL, X. I then opened it again, and it came up the same size as it did originally.0 -

Rather than maximising the window, drag the edges and then use Ctrl + Close X. When opened next, it should open at the modified size e.g tall and thin etc. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Thaks, Well I did that and it worked!!! It's just a shame it doesn't do it with internet links
Does this mean it's an internet explorer problem then?0 -

Which version of IE are you using? It should work for link windows as well but you may have to re-size and close only one window and then close IE down. Not using IE here. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hiya, I think it is version 7 (the one with the tabs along the top)0

So isn't there an option to open a new Tab rather than a new Window? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

If you want to open a new web page, than you can click on a new tab.
If you hit CTRL and a link, you should expect a new tab to open, not a new window.
Here's how to have new windows and pop-ups to default to new tabs:-
1. Open IE7
2. Click
3. Click Internet Options
4. Click Settings
5. Select Always open pop-ups in new tab
6. Click OK until you are back in your browser
You can hold CTRL and click on a link to test. If setup correctly, that should open the link in a new tab instead of in a new window. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
I don't really have a problem with the links opening in a new window, although I suppose it would solve the problem as I know all the tabs open full screen.
It's just frustrating not knowing why it has suddenly done this and the fact I can't fix it.
Thanks for taking the time to try and help, you're a star:D0 -
Have you tried resetting internet explorer settings
- Tools
- Internet options
- Advanced tab
- Reset
You will lose the add ons. After resetting, you can alter the add ons as you want.
not sure if this works. I havent tried before. Just hoping it will reset everything to basic , the way it was before you customized it.££££££
Cheers
