    Reading back it seems you already visited the Job centre to confirm identity and if you was capable of any work requirements but I'm sure you will have a commitment agreement on the journal eventually or maybe you already did so.

    @TimeLord1,

    Thank you for replying. It's not just me, is it ? The letter makes no sense. Yes, I attended the JC on 4 Jan for an 'identity appointment', after having submitted my UC claim on 28 Dec. I had already accepted my UC commitments online while submitting the claim and I didn't have to do it again at the JC appointment, though I think I was very briefly reminded of them (just to sign into UC account regularly and to inform them of any relevant changes).

    Is this letter confirming - in a confusing way - that part of my legacy ESA award was indeed contribution-based and that that will continue (minus the IR part) as New Style ESA ? That would make some sense, because although I don't remember doing so, I would have claimed ESA after losing my full-time job around 2009. Lost my job (with the NHS!) because of my health issues/disability (was already receiving DLA)

    If it was 2009 I'm unsure if your claim would've been ESA I think ESA started in 2008 and Incapacity claims ended in 2013 so you would have been one of the earlier ESA contribution claimants having worked with the NHS.  I can't see you hearing to much from them now though just check the journal weekly until the payments settle down so you can get used to it.

    I think the worst is over just the badly administered letters confuse the best of us.

    KxMx, would you happen to know why ESA are confirming LCW status, instead of LCWRA, when my legacy ESA award was Support Group?

    I've copied this from the New Style ESA gov.uk page.
    I think they use slightly different language compared to UC, that's my guess.
    The financial amount given in your letter is for the Support Group.

    Main phase

    If you have been found to have limited capability for work, you will move onto the ‘main phase’ for New Style ESA and you will get the basic allowance, plus a ‘support component’ if you are put in the support group.

    • basic allowance (standard rate) – up to £90.50 (per week)
    • support component – £47.70 (per week)

    TimeLord, thank you very much for your reassurance and kindness. I'm going to follow your sensible advice to just keep checking UC account and wait for payments.

    Everyone in the Support Group had an assessment back around 2018 to see if they had a LCWRA and if so wouldn't need further assessments. I guess this was getting people ready to move to UC then the 2 year mask virus hit and people heard nothing.

    That can't be correct because I didn't have one back then. I had one in 2016 and again in March 2020, just before the pandemic started.

    It would be the 2020 WCA that determined if you was in the Support Group you had the LCWRA for UC that was the Damian Green era I sent of for my LT54 /ESA56 and the report stated treated as Limited Capability for Work Related Activity. I believe it was one of his last things he did about pointless to keep bringing people back to achieve the same results.
