Combine this with a SIM PIN, and 'lock passcode & face ID' in iPhone settings to prevent changes to them (should your phone get stolen).
Where is the 'lock passcode & face ID' in iPhone settings please?
Do you mean how to lock notes?

Go into Settings and scroll down to Notes. Then go into Password, can enable the use of the Device Passcode or a Custom code. You can also enable FaceID from there.

Once enabled, when you create a new or existing note. Click the circle with 3 dots and select the Lock option.

Depends on the Android version and device manufacturer, but should be under Settings -> Connections -> SIM Manager, then look for something like 'SIM card security'.

It depends on your phone but if you search your settings for SIM lock that should lead you to the right area

Yes, or ideally don't use signins, especially to banks, that use SMS as a form of authentication. SIMs can be cloned without stealing the phone or SIM.

That would really cut down the number of firms you could use. Financial firms are among the worst at this. Even those who offer alternatives, such as app-based authentication, usually do not allow you to disable SMS as an option to receive OTP. That or automated phone calls, which are equally problematic.

True, and its a bit of a shame. The big financial firms claim to use algorithims to help detect if a sign in or payment is possibly suspicious but still I would prefer a bank that allowed SMS to be switched off.
