People talk of saving photos on a USB stick. I would never take pictures or enter any information on my phone.
    Why
Do you think it's not safe
    Most phones are password protected

With passwords I would not trust anything or anyone with my passwords.Especially on a mobile phone.

So how do you look after your password

Do you just memorize them ?

That's not an option I can consider

Is Last Pass safe and secure
It wasn't a year ago, I don't know about now.
Some better alternatives have been suggested.
Looking over all of the comments I think I will write my password in coded form in two note pads

I will photo each page and store it in a secure folder in Google Photos
Is Google Photos Safe and Secure
What measures can I take to achieve maximum security

I will save copies of the above photos on two secured Scandisc Memory Sticks
How do I add security to the Memory Cards

I'm trying to think of a location away from home where I can store one of the notepads and Memory Sticks
This seems overly complex. If you are creating a digital record, then why not just use a password manager. That will allow you to backup the encrypted database with no further precautions needed for your storage.
Photographing handwritten notes won't add to the security.

I keep my passwords, usernames, passcodes and other login info together with paperwork from providers in a physical folder at home.  All passwords are coded in a way that no one, except me and my OH, would have a clue what the real word is.  For simplicity I use the same password for everything, the only differences are the numbers and special characters (some providers want very long passwords, so I add more numbers or special characters).  I also store usernames for frequently used BS/banks in "notes" that I can access on my phone when I'm away. I prefer to use apps if available, makes it easier - don't need passwords, just my face.

Do you have a contingency plan in case you are burgled or your docs are burnt in a fire

The same as you, I keep all my passwords and info in one small book - but it never leaves the house. I have instructed Mrs Techniker to hand over the book to my daughter if I should keel over, who will then carry out any monetary transactions as Mrs T. does not know her bits from her bytes.
Seems to me that if you are no longer alive your relatives should not be using your login details to access your accounts as those accounts should be frozen on your death unless they are joint ones?

The correct thing to do is tell the banks etc what has happened and then they will freeze the accounts and allow access to whoever gets the Grant of Probate.

Just use Bitwarden with a 5 word passphrase and 2FA and stop over complicating things with alternatives that will be much less secure.

Yes, my spreadsheet is on Google drive.  It doesn't include passwords, but includes all my bank/BS/platform accounts and all necessary information I might need for resetting my passwords.
  • Am I the only one that has a different 12 to 14 character password for every account or site I use and don't have them written down anywhere?
