ooh thanks for the heads up on that nematode site, i'd not come across that one & had been debating using some for some very stubborn ants nests that have been taking over my lawn (& i've been ignoring for too long)

Mr Sl did the bulk of it, reaching high and spraying leaves and branches but I helped with an old watering can (that is disintegrating fast) watering and drenching the trunks and the ground underneath. Between us the 8 x 5L were used before the rain started last night. There was a bit spare so we treated two new trees in the community garden. All good. The second pouch goes OoD before we get back from Scotland so not sure if we will re-treat (suggests we do so after two weeks).

OS Grocery Challenge in 2026 I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026 - currently £1,959.37 to the end of August. This is too high if there is to be anything lovely for Xmas.

Well that was weird. One of me, the cat or the husband selected the order in which threads had been created as the display order of my bookmarks instead of the most recently commented upon. That took a bit of working out. I didn't spot the bold updated threads until yesterday, lurking near the bottom.

it’s an update 🤷♀️. If you change to recently commented you get nearer a view that is helpful 🤷♀️
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
Yes but it doesn't save that view and reverts next time you select bookmarks (here on my Mac)

@Suffolk_lass - it's plain and simple poor web design hun - try opening the link in a new tab to read and then refresh your tab with the original list, your choices should remain intact - the MSE designers who have revamped the page appear not to have consulted the users, but then again as most of us are old enough to be their grans and we of course know nothing! 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for your comments. I used to use the back button but it now refreshes to the default. At least I know now. As you suggest @rtandon27 I'm sure they think they know best. With activity noticably quieter on the forums than a few years ago, they need to be aware they will kill it off if they keep doing that sort of thing!
I am still reflecting on news from one of the women I had lunch with last week. Her son is a cancer researcher (a PHD doctor with ten years experience of two cancers and an expert in his field) - two months ago his entire research team (him included) was made redundant by the hospital at which they are based and the funding has been reallocated to an AI tool research initiative. I am flabbergasted.

Oh my, that"s awful. How can AI possibly be better than human research? I think this is sadly the way things are going to be in many fields now. Its all very worrying
