Broadband from Now or Plusnet ?

Live in a rural area with maximum 20 mbs download speed.
Currently with BT out of contract paying £49pm.
Im drawn toward Now at £23pm and Plusnet at £26pm
Any reasons for avoiding either one?

  • I have used both with no great issues.  Routers aren't particularly great but I added a MESH system which solved any connection problems I had.
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

Same here, used both & currently with NOW and no problems.
I used the router they sent, and it's fine for my needs, including TV streaming.

NOW tend to automatically offer deals near end of contract, just watch out because the e-mails can be confusing
I've always found real people at Now helpful BTW

The range of the Wifi on the NOW router, and the Plusnet, one wasn't great so had to be supplemented.

I would have stayed with Plusnet had they not shown no interest in offering me a deal when my minimum term expired so I moved to NOW for a couple of quid less a month.  No issues transferring from one provider to the other.

  • I have been with Plusnet for a few years - Fibre to Premises.  No problems, not an excessive speed (150) but on my own and it is reliable.  At end of contract (about a month ago) sent an email with prices for fixing 24 month contract - prices less than comparison sites for same download speed.  And about £8 less than paying.  For £2 more could upgrade to higher speed so did.

PROs:  I used comparison sites and could not match the Plusnet email prices.
CONs:  Maybe Plusnet isn't the Which? best provider but it works for me and I don't trust Sky, so don't won't to bundle (which is another option).

Do you need a phone as Plusnet will not provide that service.

What mesh system did you use, I'm going to have to implement one as I'm currently running 2 disc extenders with a BT smart hub 2

Plusnet come out better in the customer satisfaction surveys than Now but little in it. I'd personally choose them (and have renewed with them on a 12 month contract which works out cheaper then the 24 month one when you renew back to the lower cost and avoid too much of the annual increase).

Never had any issue with the Plusnet Smarthub 2, but have had a mesh network for some time in its place. Mine is also a TP-Link Deco but the X70 series. Buying one now I would look at the Wifi 7 capable.
