Dog walked, been jabbed, new appointment made for a phone call with a doctor, lunch made, tomorrow night's supper prepped, washing up done and much stuff stuffed into the D/W and am now battling paperwork. It's long and slow but I have found masses of scraps of paper which I can knit into a shopping list and a To Do list when I'm out and about on Thursday after the Foodbank.Better is good enough.6

Did everything I planned. An extra was defrosting one of the freezers. I was anxious about one or two of my errands today but everything went smoothly so worrying was a waste of my time and energy. Maybe I'll sleep well tonight now.
All the washing dried on the line and as a rare treat for DH I cooked tea tonight, prawn linguine.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
Well done, Valli!
Today I have
- prepped and cooked a pork casserole in the SC
- done WMx3 (2 for bedding, 1 for bath mats)
- tidied and dusted most of the downstairs - I left DH to deal with his own room
- watered all the houseplants
- played Scrabble with W and M when they eventually arrived with K; M was her usual stroppy self
- fed everybody lunch, after which M cheered up a lot, so I reckon she'd been hungry
- drove us to the NT property where I used to volunteer - we've been there before with K and the girls, but it's a place we all like
- drank coffee and ate NT cake, and began to feel better
- walked 2.5km with Rosie and W through the woods and paddled through the ford (with wellies!)
- came home, sorted out some of the casserole for K to take home
- ate the rest with DH and sent him on his way to model railway club
- washed up and loaded the DW.
I am now officially on strike for the rest of the evening6 -
DW locked and loaded.
Thanks Ionafan.
I put out a towel to donate to the vets, one of 3 bath towels, because the sides have frayed…but I have had a breainwave, bought some ribbon, and have bound them. Folded and pressed the ribbon, pinned it on and have tacked it so it’s ready to machine sew. And i’ve decided to buy new pins to replace my ancient and rather blunt pins. Our haberdashery and craft store does deliveries so I don’t even have to traipse to town!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Had an appalling journey to Dorset on Friday - 7+ hours instead of 3. However other than that, the weekend was good with a family gathering on Saturday (24 assorted siblings/cousins), 2 good visits to Mum and a sea swim.
today:
- gym swim
- got a few things from C00p on the way home
- Mr N and I assembled the new spice rack, will need slight alteration tomorrow (shelves are adjustable).
- one load washing done, one load DW
- I completely emptied 2 grocery shelves in preparation for what I will use the new rack for (herbs, spices, frequently-used items like baking powder). Am still planning for it to go under a new shelf (when Mr N makes it) on which will go the cafetieres, mugs etc. Was fairly ruthless in chucking out and consolidating items, wiped all bottles and containers over then wiped the shelves. Put some of it back but will continue tomorrow as I want to do it properly. Plastering behind the cooker is nearly dry so we can start painting tomorrow.
- DB managed to retrieve all items on my portable hard drive which I use for backups/archiving but which seemed to have given up the ghost. He sent me all the documents in a zip file so I downloaded and started working through them. Ordered a new portable drive to be delivered to DB so he can put photos and music on it, then if the old drive dies I'll at least have everything safe.
- updated Mum's diary for DB to read.
- went to church group.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
Four lines in Connections and Wordle in two, the second one thanks to Belovéd spotting it after my routine first word.Dog trundled, and we've an appointment this morning in town at 10.00 so I need to have a shower before that. After that we've been invited in to a neighbour's for lunch which means they're about to go away and need someone to 'volunteer' to look after their dog. Not buying it.One frog I did manage to get off my desk yesterday was bringing the Residents' Association file up to date and a note that needs to be circulated about replacing the dead pear tree in the communal garden. That had become a tadpole with legs so I'm relieved it's off my desk.More paperwork when we come back so that when I go out and about tomorrow I've got all my various listies ready for the errands I need to run. Must remember to pack some dog food to give to a couple whose elderly dog is going through his terminal phase and needs gentler dog food. We've tried samples and he coped really well with them so I can deliver some from my stash which is going out of date and Wren won't finish so I can donate that instead of throwing it away. Win:win. If I have the energy I'll make up the beds in the letting rooms, and if super-charged I'll claen the shower in the shower room. I soaked our shower curtains for 24 hours in biologicals because they were looking really ick, dried them outside and Belovéd rehung them last night. Another job that gets put off and put off and put off but really should be done more frequently and isn't exactly hard work.

I did a Valli last night and took some ibuprofen because all my joints ached. Thankfully, I had nearly 7 hours' unbroken sleep, and feel much better this morning - but I'm taking things relatively easy today.
Achievements so far:
- showered and dressed, ate breakfast
- cleared the kitchen
- a 5-minute PUPA was enough to tidy the whole house
- picked up Rosie's "presents" from the back garden
- raked leaves off the flowerbeds and left them on the lawn for J the gardener to deal with this afternoon (he'll probably just run the mower over them). The ash tree is now bare and it will be another fortnight or so before the oaks shed their leaves and we start all over again!
- twinned the church toilets with the help of a delightful lady at the other end of the phone, who dealt with my query about getting the church's name on the invoice/receipt with the utmost grace and humour
I need to pop down to the PO before lunch. I'll walk Rosie later, while J is mowing the lawn. Cloudy but dry here today.6 -

- aqua aerobics
- spent too long searching for coffee/tea canisters that we like. No joy really. Perhaps when we're on hols in Suffolk next week we will see some different shops.
- finished clearing, sorting, cleaning and re-stocking 2 grocery shelves. Stocked new spice/essentials rack. Amazing how much room now left on shelves i.e. you can actually find what you want.
- Mr N started painting the now-dry plaster on the 'cooker wall'.
- filled bird feeders.
- drum practice.
- sorted photos emailed by step-brother who organised family gathering at the weekend. Now in a shared album with DB so one of us can show them to Mum.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
DW emptied, WUALTD, pegged out washing. Completed ‘make do and mend’ on towel as side edges were frayed. Figured out where Daisy aka Houdini was getting out and dealt with (I hope).
