I don’t think he actually got much at all, like buns, cheese, bacon and pears! Surely there has to be more than that somewhere.I made a large chili on Friday night for 8 of us, used approx 400g pork mince in total and 3 tins of beans, 2 tins of chopped tomatoes, so much veg to bulk it out. The whole lot was polished off and all the children (4of them in total) ate it with yogurt flatbreads and rice. Including the flatbreads I made, I worked out that it was still less than £0.90 a portion which I actually thought was a pipe dream these days to make a meal for under £1 per portion! Oh dear, I'm slinking out of November's challenge with my head hanging in shame! A massive £120 spent over the last two days and I will still need to pick up a bulk-buy at the health-food shop tomorrow after Repair Café, at which I'm a "mender" on the textile front. In my defence I'm running around like a fly with an azure rear end, trying to get ready for DS3's return (a large amount of furniture needs to be removed or re-deployed) whilst looking after DGS today and trying to prepare for Sunday's trading. Budgeting has not been at the top of my list of priorities; dangerous territory! So in theory I'd have just over £1 to feed 3 or 4 of us for two weeks; the first week would be easy as we should have everything we need until next weekend, but the second would be a massive challenge. I might keep track, just to see how far adrift I'll go, but part of me just doesn't want to know!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5

@Nelliegrace - I hope your poor knee is getting better.
we have been trying to use freezer supplies this week.Meatballs, mince and chicken have been used so far with breaded chicken due to be used on Sunday for katsu chicken.OH made bunny chow tonight (no bunnies have been harmed). It's our version of the South African dish and we really enjoyed it. He made a small loaf, hollowed it out and filled it with a very spicy chicken curry. It made a nice change from curry with rice.
I'm not drinking wine this month so that should help with the budget. 😇
£172 left until 30th November8 -

£18.77 spent today + 99p sweets
I bought some lovely outdoor bred pork boned chops, YS mince, sauerkraut etc. Just got enough to get to the £40 week spend for this week of 4 Morries free £15. I will buy some alcohol to bump it up in weeks to come.
I am still yet to defrost freezer as a few things in there still. I will see if I can eat it down this weekend as a far amount of ice in there I can see.DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

almost even split across Aldi and Lidl. There’s specific items I get in both. I’ve now gone over £50 so I’ve got my free fruit to get in Lidl now. I’d have spent less but my husband and eldest picked up a few things. I need to get fruit in Tesco tomorrow as I don’t like the fruit in Aldi or Lidl

We have a Mr S delivery due to come on Tuesday and if everything comes we will be over budget by that shop 😔. It does include lots of items that will last months such as bin bags, bleach, 2 packs of toilet roll*¹, a 5kg bag of sushi rice*² etc. so I'm not too upset about this. Will do everything to minimise the amount we go over though.
£166.53/£240.
£73.46 left.
Today was busy as on Sunday we get half price electricity for 5 hours and we take full advantage of that. Basically the whole flat got cleaned including vacuuming the bedroom carpet and rug we have in the living room.
Washing machine was put on and laundry is on the drier now with the dehumidifier on.
Batch cooking was done during the cheap electricity time; porridge, butternut squash and chickpea curry, inari sushi, edamame onigiri and some steamed sweet potato.
That is breakfast, lunch and dinner for me at least sorted for a good chunk of the week. I have items for salads/quick cook vegetables/miso soup/carbs to add into the week to to bulk out the portions.
OH is more a cooking what he feels like when he likes it. Sometimes he batch cooks and I will try my best to ask him to do so on Sundays during cheap times if he does but as he is on the spectrum this is something that I'm not going to push on. Him eating healthier than he did when I met him is more important to me than us saving on his cooking methods.
*¹ As I'm not sure we will be able to do a delivery order next month due to the Xmas rush that usually happens 😒. While I could block out a delivery date now it might not work out right for us.
*² On an offer that I think would be stupid to not take advantage of especially as I'm basically out of it!I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy5
