Britannia Parking, DCB Legal court claim 2025

Apologies as I’m sure this has almost certainly been covered. I’ve ignored everything so far as that’s generally the advise I have seen but I believe the law may have changed this year. I parked in a private car park. There were notices but it was about 7.30pm and I parked to buy a curry and didn’t use the number plate input in the restaurant and I walked the dog whilst it was being prepared. I did contest the fine and screen shot my bank statement showing the amount paid to the restaurant but they said it was lawful and I need to pay. It’s now escalated to Final Notice, threatening CCJ and asking for £170. Is there something I should do or just still ignore. Kind regards simon

No laws have changed or been enacted this year regarding private parking

No fine was issued, just an invoice  ( Which parking company. ?  )

Did the letter come from DCB LTD or DCB Legal ltd. ?

Did it give you 30 days notice, or perhaps 14 days notice. ?

Best to have a read of the NEWBIES FAQ Announcement thread on 1st page.
    Which parking firm issued PCN?

As above, it sounds like you have a useless debt collectors letter, but what did the restaurant say when you went back to them and complained about being harassed as a bona fide customer by their scamming parking company?
Why did you think you could make up your own mind that parking T&C's don't apply at 7:30?
    Which parking company is this?

Please read the FOURTH then SECOND posts of the NEWBIES thread, in that order. Dead easy stuff and the law hasn't changed.

What happened when you tried Plan A first?

  • Thanks for the messages. The company is Britannia Parking and the debt collecting agent is Direct Collection Bailiffs. I didn’t ignore the sign or think it didn’t apply I was just absent minded I guess and i didn’t see it even though it was clearly there. I wasn’t looking for a sign. It’s a small car park for the shops there and there never used to be one so I had no idea. The owner of the curry house told me to contact them and say it was busy and that I forgot to enter the number plate. Either way Britannia Parking got my appeal along with a screen shot of my bank account showing the proof I was parked up to use one of the shops. Legal or not legal it’s wrong so I’m not paying unless I have no choice

Well that was never going to work!

  • Unfortunately due to a combination of being IT and technophobic and not having a working laptop I can’t navigate my way round the newbie threads on  y phone. I’m worried I need to do some kind of appeal and not just ignore the threatening letters and do nothing

If it's at debt collector stage it's past the point of appeal, you ignore the idiots until a court claim comes plopping on your doormat.
