Chase - how to remember the Reference for a Payee?

I know it's possible because many of my payees have customised References. But there is one payment I make weekly for varying amounts and the Reference always comes up as Chase when I go to set up the payment, despite what I entered previously. When I click Edit it says "You can save a payment for this payment if that's helpful. If you don't we'll just use Chase." So that implies it should be possible!
It's a business if that makes any difference. And this is on Android.
The reference is fiddly to enter and it would be handy to have it retained.

That's odd, it has always saved and retained my references. Is there something unusual about this one, that perhaps means it can't be stored on their system (length, special characters)? Have you tried deleting the payee and setting it up afresh?

No special characters, 16 letters (out of a maximum of 18) including two spaces. The payee is a BOS business account.
If no other suggestions I'll delete and re-add next week and report back!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Aha! I think I've solved it. Looks like scheduled payments don't save the reference. I have always set the payment for this to be paid on Monday because that is when it is due. I just tried an immediate payment and it has saved the reference. Feels like a bit of a bug, but I'm sorted for now.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. Well that explains why I've never seen anything like it. I've never used a scheduled payment.

I’ve seen when not wanting to make a payment with a reference and you delete the word ‘Chase’ it comes back again or sometimes sends with that word anyway. It’s almost like it’s some sort of advertising thing that they are trying to do with this.I am generally not a fan of references on banks unless you really require it. I generally with other banks enter ‘No Ref’ if it insists that the reference number is mandatory.0
