Cross-posted with you again Dusty. So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother.'Ordinary supper' went smoothly with neighbours, although I felt a bit overwhelmed by the debate about a current social issue. I did manage to tell them as I left how much I enjoy being on my own when Hugh's away so next time I can take a raincheck, although it is lovely if neighbours care enough to think about people possibly feeling a bit lost if they're on their own. I do like being part of this community, and co-incidentally saw someone who was here during the pandemic who was living as a singleton during the pandemic although he had a girlfriend and he said that it was being part of the community that got him through.Everything took longer than I'd hoped yesterday so I need to re-evaluate how long I think tasks take, as opposed to how long they do actually take me. I think I must be very slow. Making green tomato chutney today, cleaning a bird feeder (revolting job) and getting cracking on sorting out the cupboard under the front steps if there's enough time and energy.Only one line of Connections so far and Wordle in five, which is what it usually takes me. Very slow all round, really.Better is good enough.6

Morning all,Last morning of my parent's course this morning, and I've just set up another whatsapp group as one of the parents wanted us to all stay in contact after the course finished. Not sure if I'll have time to meet up as regularly as I think they're hoping to, as Thursdays should be a work day for me, and I'd just booked off these days for the course as it's important to me to have tools to support DS1.2 lines completed in connections today. I got the theme of one of the other lines, but hadn't heard of one of them before, so it stumped me. Wordle suprpisingly completed in 4 today.Had a hectic day yesterday. Went and got my hair cut in the morning, but as it was at a training college, it took 2 hours. It looks quite nice, but not as good as the last cut one of the other students did for me. Still lots of compliments on the school run though, which is nice for a confidence boost. Our new mattress was finally delivered (after 4 weeks of waiting) whilst I was out. I didn't have much time to look at when I popped in and had lunch before the school run, and then getting DS2's hair cut for school photos today, but did comment to DH that it looked too big for our bed frame. When he came to put the freshly washed sheets on in the evening, they wouldn't fit. It was meant to be a standard double and I'd even asked about standard double sheets fitting in the showroom, which I was assured they would do. He measured the mattress and it measured 4ft 7 and not the standard 4ft 6. I immediately called the bed guy, who initially didn't answer his phone as by then it was 5.40pm as we'd got back from the barber's. Thankfully, he phoned back and tried to say that it was within the window of tolerance as the mattress was hand-made and not machine-made. I told him that I wouldn't have any sheets that would fit it and that we couldn't use it, as not only was it longer than it should have been, but also 2 inches thicker than our old mattress. He agreed to collect it today and bring back our old one (thank goodness it hadn't been destroyed), and refund the mattress. We dragged our very old spare room mattress out to sleep on, and moved the new mattress (hurting my back again). After about 30 minutes, he phoned back and said he could do it last night instead at just gone 7pm. I was meant to be going out to dinner with a friend at this time, so I said that DH would have to manage it all. I was so stressed I nearly cancelled the meal, but knew my friend needed to offload as she's going through a rough time. I went to the dinner anyway and DH managed. I've sent him my bank details this morning for him to be able to refund me, so fingers crossed he does. Back to the drawing board trying to get a new mattress to help my back again now.
At least all of our bedding is washed and fresh and we had something to sleep on in the end.
UPDATE: Money all refunded for mattress. Phew!No work booked in for this afternoon (agency tried to send me somewhere miles away at short notice this morning, but I said no as I only do pre-booked ones now due to childcare). I was hoping to catch up with a friend, but she's in the midst of a massive clothes sort out for her boys, so I will try to fly here instead.Happy flying all.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20175 -
Narco and Honeybear thanks for your messages regarding my mother.
Sexy - that sounds frustrating and stressful, glad you have a refund.
Today I have:
Cleaned toilets
Washed up and put DW on
Helped S's gf with stain removal on her clothes
Dropped bag at CS shop (and purchased 2 jigsaws from another as I like to do them during winter)
Returned something in town
Small food shop / bakery shop
Done a bit of the paid stuff
Deadheaded roses and Dahlias.
Washing on the line - keeping an eye as already had one shower, looks heavy out there.
I took a look at changing energy supplier - definitely need to do this. The research I'm fine at - making the decision / acting on it is where I always have an issue. Too much thinking is fixing best / do I avoid exit fees / how good is their customer service - decision paralysis. Over recent months with eldest S living back at home (after break up with his gf) I realise how much he probably has ADHD and as 70% is inherited I now wonder if this has been one of my struggles - at 57 it makes many things in life make more sense!
Narco sorry to hear your company has no money to pay wages this week - hope not too many are affected by this.
Going to read more of Martin's newsletter next - I'm pleased to be back, just a few years to catch up on!The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair7 -

Very little achieved today as I seem to have reacted quite strongly to my flu and Covid jabs, unusually. I had quite a feverish night and was pretty shivery today, cancelling Pilates but managed to get to my drum lesson (as I've pre-paid). Did a small amount of shopping, posted some letters and put the scrunchy plastic in the recycling on my way home.
Then it was packing, checking the greenhouse, cooking dinner and now an early night (for me).Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.7 -
@Dustykitten - I wasn't diagnosed with ADHD until I was 62 (now 77). It wasn't considered back when I was young. After cleaning house of my parents' stuff, I think they had the same problems.6

It's Friday. Groundhog Day here. Yesterday was a wash-out. DH is back in horse piddle with another chest infection. I ate my tea at 11.30pm.
Today will involve lots of laundry (will have to use the TD for most things), Rosie's walk, maybe a little bit of gardening while the sun is shining, and horse piddle visiting. I'm hoping to stop off at M€rry H€11 on the way up to the horse piddle, to see if I can get a particular cardigan that I've spotted online.
Two weeks to go until the EcoChurch quiz, and I haven't yet written a single question...

Morning all!Well no work booked in yesterday for today (they forgot I don't take morning calls as I need to give notice for childcare, and tried to phone this morning, but I had to turn them down), so DH and I are off mattress shopping again today. Has anyone bought an Ikea double mattress before? We're considering one of these as someone recommended them, but wanted to know if anyone has experience with these before we decide to take a very long trip to go and try some out. Definitely going to take a measuring tape with us today, and considering taking a fitted double sheet with me too after the stress of the previous mattress being too big. Not sure if that would be allowed though.Sorry to hear about your DH iona - I hope he's feeling better soon.Dusty I think there's quite a bit of neurodiversity in my family too - we're waiting for autism and adhd assessments for both of my boys, but I strongly suspect I have both as well. I think this is why I find it so hard to declutter and just face constant overwhelm - why HHCs also help me.Hope you feel better soon Narco - I've never had a flu jab before, but the covid ones have always made me really ill for at least a couple of days.Wordle done in 5 and connections completed. One load of washing in the WM.I have a friend (the one who I went out to dinner with on Wednesday) coming over to our house with her DD for the first time on Sunday afternoon, and I'm hoping that DH will help me to tidy etc today. Her house is spotless, which makes me feel under even more pressure. She told me that I don't need to worry about any of that with her, it's just nice to catch up, but my mother's voice and judgement always rings in my head every time, and I can't help but feeling stressed if things are messy. There's far too much for me to do on my own, and it will not be perfect, but at least it can be better than it currently is hopefully.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20176

Sorry Mr Ionafan is under the weather and back in hospital again Ionafan. I hope he recovers very quickly.I hope the money situation at work sorts itself out right quickly - Valli I think.Have managed Connections in doublequick time and Wordle in 6. Missing Round, and has anyone heard from CoG?I've been Dot to Dotting in the cupboard under the front steps and it's looking better but I don't have the energy to turn the whole thing out. Whatever I do will be an improvement so I'll have to be satisfied with that.Did the hokey cokey with the laundry yesterday - the minute I finished putting the first load out I felt a few drops of rain, looked at the cloud and decided it was probably fuller of water than the forecast had indicated, and while I was bringing it back in heard a huge crack of thunder. It tipped down, followed by hail. I turned up the radio, put the extractor fan on and moved the dog's bed round so that she could be next to me while I cracked on with the chutney-making. I don't understand why recipes always under-estimate timings. Five hours it took to get it to a consistency I was happy to settle for, so I ended up potting it at 6.15 last night, very tired after a long and extremely busy day.The bird feeders have both been dismantled, scraped clean of really stinky stuff, soaked, scrubbed and rinsed, put back together and refilled with sunflower hearts. I've chucked out the old fatballs and peanuts which I think were out of date because nothing was eating them.I need coffee so I'll nip to the garden centre and pick up a small amount of replacement bird food to see if there's any local appetite for those, and pop into Mr M for more coffee. Other than that I'm really trying to have a No or As Low As Possible Spend month, but Mr L scuppered that plan this week by putting out some Christmas marzipan things that Belovéd loves, so I had to buy it so I can wrap it while he's still away and hide it.My hiding is very efficient. I wrote him a wedding type card and stashed it well ahead of time. Three weeks after the event I still haven't found it.Better is good enough.7

Morning all
Sailed through Connections super quick, though I did fall for a red herring at first. Stuck on Wordle again.
LOL at the well-hidden card, Honey Bear.
These ADHD definitions are intriguing...I realise I tick a few boxes...
Washing on line, WUALTD, and DW emptied. Off into school shortly as they are celebrating 150th anniversary.
