No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

I have consistently ruled out matched betting over the years, but have put it on my Christmas to-do list to have another look at it. If I could even just make £100 I would be delighted and quit while I was ahead!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I've had a bit of a hectic / stressful week at work, so am feeling a bit dysregulated. I'm feeling a bit under the weather too, which is not helping either. Just drank lots of smoothie though, maybe that will help! Mr julicorn is out with some colleagues, so I get to just watch some trashy Netflix shows on my own - could be worse.
Matched betting profit now stands at £127, and I did very little last couple of days. I would definitely recommend it @South_coast, proper matched betting is essentially risk free (you always know what you're going to get), you just need to pay attention to what you're doing and most importantly not be someone who gets tempted into gambling.
Lots of matched betters also get into casino offers. Those are riskier, but essentially turn into a numbers game (unlike matched betting, you have no individual guarantees with casino offers, but you skew the odds in your favour so that over time you are more or less guaranteed to make a profit). I haven't tried those yet, but might look into them down the line.4 -
I was feeling super rough yesterday morning and almost ended up not going to London, but I felt a bit better by the afternoon, and we had the hotel booked and everything so it would have been a real waste.
Mr julicorn and I also realised that we had seated tickets for this gig we went to, which was an absolute lifesaver! It was really enjoyable in the end. A Belarusian goth synth pop / rock band with a crowd who seemed to want to form mosh pits to songs that really didn't need them (reason number 10 that seated was the way to go here!).
I also slept quite well in our super cheap hotel room, and we spent a bit of time in the British Museum this morning. A very impressive building, but my goodness Britain should not own half the stuff that's in there! We also had a lovely breakfast at a Lebanese bakery, a pub lunch (I got sent a birthday voucher, yay), and then we set off to Rye. We had a very quiet evening today because I still need the rest and also we're trying to reign in our holiday spending for once, so a hotel room picnic it was. I really like spending time just to the two of us away from home sometimes, even when it's just watching YouTube videos in a hotel room together
I hope you all have a good start to the weekend too!
Oh, we also got paid and I sent some more money to investments. We're just over £100 off the 20% milestone, so close!2
