Plusnet here, we are ditching our landline to go FTTP/500. Coming to install soon so crossing my fingers
they can use existing cable routes for the fibre.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Just double check your DD info with Plusnet because they failed to set the first one up and then the second I believe also hasn't worked, so I'm just going to pay by card now each month.0 -
Thank's. The text messages everyone keeps sending is driving me mad though. Several from Plusnet regarding the upgrade as
expected but then several from Open Reach with the date and time, OK but one would have been enough. Then another one to verify
the fitting date and time slot instrcuting me to respond YES if OK. Yesterday 2 more texts reminding me of the appointment and this
morning another with a reply YES before 4PM to verify the fitting timeslot.
Add to that the doctors are also equally text happy, how many text messages do you need to remember an appointment in
2 weeks time?
I took the front off one of the phone faceplates and can see the cable running upwards which was not expected, no overhead lines
around here. New build some 25 years ago so everythings underground. I didn't remove the metal innerplate though so it may just
drop down behind it. Been so long we cannot remember how they got the 2nd line in before we had broadband.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Well we had a contractor come out today and he could not fit the full fibre. He was on his own and the only options he had was fit
the box to the front wall and we run a power cable to it or he runs a massive length of cable around the house.
Neither appealed so he went away and we need to arrange another appointment, which hopefully will be openreach themselves who will
know exactly where the cables are routed and how to get the fibre in without a load of internal wiring.
Seems strange that they can get the copper wires in without an issue but installing fibre is an issue? Why does it not just follow the
same route?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Hopefully you get it up and running soon enough.0 -
Fingers crossed openreach engineers can put it in the same location because my entire network/NAS/UPS etc are all in that location.
The contractors options seemed limited due to being on his own. He seemed to think the fibre was ready to connect outside the property
but I don't think fibre runs that close to the house?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
