on going DCB legal claim (mediation call review)

Hello, long story short my partner got a parking ticket from euro car parks 4 years ago in 2020 for failing to purchase a ticket. We've ignored all the letters from them and DCB ltd but recently received the DCB legal letter than everyone in the threads says not to ignore. I did send them ECP an email not long after it happened I believe and also in 2022 that went unanswered. I know the advice says to to build a defence ready for receiving a claim form but most people on these forums in our position seem to have genuine excuses or reasons for not buying a ticket whereas my partner was just naive. Is it even possible to defend it or worth trying? Should we just pay it now? My main issue is that the fine is now £170 up from whatever it was when she first received it.

What fine? There's no fine.
What £170? There's no debt.
Just read the other DCB threads from today. Any of them (no links given).Of course you will never be paying.
Just read around a bit. So easy to defend & win with no hearing needed. It'll all be over in 2025.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

If they ignored your appeal and they ignored your communications twice, then I suspect they'll have a lot to answer for.
I'd be following the general advice still and look towards making it clear that court action at this point could have been avoided if they engaged properly.
Even in court might be able to convince a judge to return it back to £60 and award no costs. I bet they discontinue beforehand.1 -
DO NOT PAY!1

The advice is for the keeper to email the response in the second post in the newbies sticky thread in announcements, if they have received a Letter of Claim from DCB Legal, same as in dozens of similar recent threads
The original PCN was probably £100 , reduced to £60 for early settlement, but that never happened, so back to £100 shown on the PCN and on the signage
The extra £70 is spurious debt collectors fees, no Biggie
Nobody is advising payment, just follow the processes1 -
DCB ones are the easiest. Read threads.

Presumably the RK has been at the same property the car is registered to since before the parking event?1

Suggest you have a good read of the latest DCBL threads as they have a lot of recent form for folding before it gets to court.
That should tell you all you need to know at this point.1 -

The D would use the template defence this forum provides. DCB ones are the easiest.
Read DCB threads. They always discontinue.recently received the DCB legal letter than everyone in the threads says not to ignore. The recipient of the letter needs to reply to tell them to ERASE THE OLD ADDRESS but this is already in the standard LBC response provided for you. Please don't copy it here. We don't need to see it.
Such an easy process. Easier than appealing.
No risk as long as you don't leave them with a choice of addresses as they have right now...you simply need to see the court claim and defend it with our resources.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
