Ok thanks, will add it back in and read the Public Consultation post. Happy to help as the approach by parking firms and the system that allows it, is completely unacceptable - there shouldn’t even need to be a debate!

I'd rather not. I'd have to search for it (same as you) and we want you to be confident searching.

Alternatively, scroll through my threads or my posts from this past week. Must admit I got a bit bored providing the same old link - endlessly - which goes against my usual posting approach that newbies should use the forum and get confident.

Also what costs can/should be claimed by the defendant? Do these have to go into MCOL as a counter claim?

MCOL also asks for defendants phone number but not mandatory, should I put the phone number in for the ‘mediator’ call or will they have the number from the system/parking files anyway?

Put a number in for the mediator call

A counter claim has to be paid for up front ( typically £35  ) and have a legal cause of action, most people haven't got one, so don't counter claim unless you have a good legal reason for doing so

Costs assessment paperwork goes to your local civil court at the WS stage and is a separate sheet,  costs are capped at around £95 plus fuel and parking charges,  a defendant might get half a day plus a few pounds for those costs

    No. Costs are requested later.

This (costs, everything about dealing with a claim form) is covered in the NEWBIES FAQs thread post 2, which is also where the template defence is linked for everyone.

Thanks - does the number have to be the defendants number? Is the mediator call where they might accept a £20 offer, or is there another call to expect where you could come to an arrangement for £20 to settle (for example)?
