Wordle in 5.I think I'm going to focus on getting some more done in the kitchen today, as it's so messy and cluttered. It would be nice to have it a bit clearer so that I can use the worktops appropriately. We suffer from not enough cupboards, so stuff gets put on the sides.Happy flying everyone xEnjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20179

Morning all.
Wordle completed in six and connections with one life left.
I've done work shift, laundry shuffle and most dailies except putting out rubbish and recycling. Waiting for a parcel the, I'll walk Poppet.Spend less now, work less later.7 -
@sexymouseI'm no longer teaching; I'm now working part time for a CIC here. I'm the operational manager and cleaner too. Actually...you've missed quite a bit
Just nipped out on an errand and picked up some dinner (for I am Northern). But I'm kind of wishing I'd gone for a hot sausage roll from a certain nationwide bakery famed for it's steak bakes (I've yet to have a bake).
When I've had my dinner I shall go and clean the cafe. I have washed the pots left by yesterday's group so they can drain while I scoff my dinner.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Round, when someone ran into us a couple of years ago the only damage were bad dents and scratches down one side of the car. It looked as though it had been through a battle, but it still ran perfectly. The insurance company wrote it off but we had the option to buy it back for £100, which I'd have been happy to do but Belovéd didn't feel he could be driving a dented jalopy around at his age so we didn't. Have you asked if that option is available to you? It would mean you could keep driving Vin while you look for a replacement you would want longer term.Wordle in six, Connections with two lives to spare. That's good going for me.I noticed yesterday that the boiler wasn't necessarily listening to the remote thermostat but didn't put 2 and 2 together. We were both still awake at 4.00am, warm but not over hot, and Belovéd realised the heating was still on. This is something that I know more about than him unfortunately so I trundled downstairs and switched the boiler off - I think I was asleep before I reached the top stair. Feeling very bleary today, but I have:1 tightened the loo seat because I could sense a bit of slippage and I'm not keen on feeling adrift when perched,2 found all the instructions for the boiler and the remote thermostat, replaced the battery in the thermostat, found out how to reconnect one to the other, tried that four times, rung the plumber twice, spoke to his wife and then him when he rang back and he's ordered another thermostat which he can deliver and set up next week,3 agreed with Belovéd that he really does need to go to Spain next week to do all the necessary paperwork and legals to sell his house there, and am delighted he's going to be seeing his elderly but very together cousin in Madrid who speaks fluent Spanish who can ease the whole process - at last. That little caper's been an ongoing irritant for a decade so I'm delighted it's going to be resolved within a matter of weeks,4 Delivered three boxes of champagne cream tea gibble to the hospice shop and collected said boxes once they'd been emptied - half the stuff was already out on the shelves by the time I went back to collect them. Two more boxes next week and then I can start clearing out clothes etc that I want to donate.5 Delivered another box to their less posh CS and collected it when empty except for the stuff they know they can't or won't sell,6 Bought a box of RNLI Christmas cards which are their mixed ones from previous years that didn't sell all muddled up. Lovely cards, but these boxes sell out really quickly because they're such good value and I love the RNLI. (We have a composer friend who was commisioned to write a piece about the Penlee lifeboat disaster, an event that still haunts me, and Simon's piece is fitting and evocative because his background is in Cornish brass bands). We saw a bad play about the Solomon Brown a couple of weeks ago so it's been in my mind again recently.7 Bought some scratchcards to repay someone who bought some last minute supplies the day of the champagne cream tea and wouldn't accept payment for them, but I know he's partial to a scratchcard or three.8 Made lunch, broccoli and stilton soup with mashed cannelini beans and creme frache with sourdough bread, all of which are from the freezer and quite a bit of which were leftovers from The Thing that wasn't A Thing.9 Pulled together all of my notes for thank you cards for everyone who contributed to making The Thing that wasn't A Thing so special.10 Vacuumed about a third of the house and swept the kitchen floor.I'm too tired to write the thank you cards today but I'm one step closer which feels good. Somene did a load of washing while they were staying over for it and I really want to send her red knickers that are sitting on my desk back to her!Better is good enough.6

DH thinks I’m fussy because, whenever we go away, I like to leave this house neat and tidy - but in my experience that makes for a much pleasanter return home.
Today I have done WMx4, half-dried everything in the TD and then hung the clothes in the bathroom and utility to finish drying completely. Hopefully there won’t be anything to iron!
I’ve sorted all the till receipts and checked off all my relevant bank transactions - pleasantly surprised that I didn’t spend as much as I had been prepared for, as the exchange rate was much better than 1:1. Mind you, I suspect that DH might have a biggish cc bill as he paid for most of our main meals.
Rosie came home mid-morning and has tested out her various day beds. She has had lots of walks during her week away, as well as the excitement of living with a house rabbit (never left unsupervised!) and a bouncy puppy, so she’s quite tired and very happy to be home.
J the gardener came this afternoon. While he mowed the lawn, I cut down the tomato vines and filled a tray with the unripe fruit; then did the same with the last of the runner beans. The sun even came out for a while. After an hour I went to find tea and cake, while J cut back some overgrown shrubs, emptied the tomato pots and took the plastic covers off the mini-greenhouses.
DH made another cuppa when he got home from picking up his meds and I have dozed a bit. I’m not planning to do much this evening, apart from cooking our meal.

@Valli that sounds like a wonderful job. I'm still keeping an eye on the jobs emails etc for alternatives to teaching, but most of the jobs around here seem to be minimum wage ones that require full time hours as well. At least I seem to be getting quite a few bookings on supply at the moment, and have the flexibility to dictate what hours I'm working.Well I went for my sports massage this afternoon, and apparently my whole back is really tight. I was particularly sensitive on my left shoulder and appparently that is linked to the right sacrum (where I've been getting my pain). I'm going back again in a couple of weeks (thank goodness I am busy with bookings for work or I'd not be able to afford it really), and hopefully will feel more difference after a longer hands-on session (today was a lot of form filling in for her to find out about everything). I got up off the bed feeling a bit wobbly and very thirsty, and have a banging headache this evening, so think it has obviously had some effect on my body (either a postural one or in releasing toxins). I've been drinking plenty of water to try to help.I managed to really shine up the kitchen sink before I left. We live in a very hard water area, and it gets grim really quickly due to limescale build-up which holds on to the dirt. I used lots of elbow-grease, my green scrubber and the pink stuff, and it looked much better, but still wasn't good enough, so then I used the HG limescale remover (DH had made it up into a solution in an old spray bottle) and it was brilliant. The sink is looking really shiny now and makes me smile when I go in the kitchen. I also got DH to wash up all of the sandwich/freezer bags and hang them out to dry on the airer so they can be reused. I must remind him that they need to come back in again. Compost caddy was also emptied and sides wiped down.Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20177
