Back again

Morning everyone, I closed my DF diary a few months ago for various reasons at the time. However on reflection I think I haven't been myself for months , but I feel myself coming out of the place I've been and wanted to be back here.
The last two years have been very testing with RL things going on in the back ground but they seem to have calmed down for a while.
For anyone like myself who is now an only child with aging parents who I am lucky to still have here will know how draining things can be. On this I have had to set boundaries for my sanity and health.
I also have a very negative friend who insists on texting me multiple times a day with said negativity . I did think of ending the friendship as I never put any of my worries on her shoulder . However I am trying to limit my replies to her.
These things probably sound quite pathetic to some people but believe me it has put me in a hole but I'm now coming out of it.
I have some lovely other friends in my life who I enjoy spending time with.
My youngest DGS is now at school full time so my childcare days are at an end , I am now going in school to do reading , which I loved yesterday .
I have this week joined the U3A , and am hoping to go to a couple of groups in the next month or so.
Work is very stressful at the moment not enough staff and the work is mentally hard sometimes. There is a new computer system in operation come December and training coming up.

After all this negativity , some good news youngest DGS has settled into school really well , I will miss him.

Things are going well money wise, I am thinking of buying a new fruit phone , but will ponder that one for a few days as it's a want rather than a need .
I have a holiday abroad to look forward to in November and February. This is my favourite time of year the run up to Christmas.

I have an ongoing complaint to Octopus , who don't seem motivated to sort it out , going to have another go this weekend to try another channel .

Both my parents have Covid at the moment so I am off to do their shopping and mine shortly. May sneak a coffee shop trip in as well.

It feels good to be back on DFD .

Welcome back! You sound very positive and I hope you find some good groups to join at U3a. I have a friend who is quite self-absorbed and actually very well-off.She never seems to lose an opportunity to flaunt her wealth.Several other friends have commented on it.I don’t really know how to handle it.She comes from a moneyed background so it’s not new to her.Like in your case, I have considered ending the friendship.Constant negativity is so draining, isn’t it.

  • Lovely evening spent with DGD who stayed over, she is a strictly fan as well. This morning off to the outlet mall close by for breakfast , then a little meander around the shops before taking her home. This afternoon is all about getting ready for the week ahead , and then a film on Netflix I think.

  • Hi :)

Glad your parents are recovering well.

I'm pretty new to these threads, so trying to learn all the lingo; but can I ask what is U3a? It could be very obvious and I might just be having a moment haha.

    Hi Pinknails

u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run groups providing a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun exploring new ideas skills . It's aimed at people who don't work anymore or semi retired like me .

  • Up early to go the Lake District to make the most of the day , coming back Sunday. Octopus gave me as 0.48p credit for my free electricity hour.
I have bought my DDs birthday present with a 30% discount code so very happy with that . Birthdays every month now through to April so an expensive few months on that score , so glad the presents pot is fully funded.
    Best get moving .
