  • Hi just a line to say sorry you're feeling so miserable...I think you're climbing a hill and only looking ahead, try to take a minute once in a while to see how far you've come. One day you will have all your debts paid and be able to focus on your health and your children...try to hold on and have faith in that. And remember it's darkest just before dawn....

Lots of luck, you're doing really well, please please don't beat yourself up about being ill, just focus on getting well.
  • Thanks guys.

I posted my SOA here yesterday -

Just stumbled across this thread and thought it was amazing, really inspirational. Hope you're ok Need To Sort It.

When reading the thread I noticed somebody mentioned a depression support group on here but I haven't been able to find it. Could anyone put me in the right direction please?

    Thanks in advance xxx

Stumbled across your posting NTSI, and I want to weep for your and hire a hitman for your ex (joke!, not really).

Anyway, I work in mental health, i;ve been on the dark side myself, currently in a bit of debt but nothing that I can't sort. I wanted to say that at Mind, the charity I work for we have a project called Income Maximisation, which is a joint initiative with the CAB and the only project of its kind in the country. I see you are in Wales, so obviously its no use to you but, some of the people that are seen by our advisers are having their debts written off, or at least an offer made to settle, on the basis that their mental ill health contributed to their debt, ie, manic spending, and their is no realistic prospect of the debts being paid in full. Obviously I am generalising here, no two cases are the same, and I don't actually work in this project, but I do get to open the post from the dozens of finance companies that are writing back to agree to write off/suspend/accept token payments.

Is it worth you exploring with your CMHT or CPN to see if someone can advocacte on your behalf (is there a mental health advocacy project near you ? ) and do check your local Mind association to see what support they can offer you.

You have a lot of support form people on this forum, and your kids need you, always. Be strong, be positive, easy for me to say I know, but I've been there and written the book, it will get better.

  • HI everyone, I finally managed to get myself round to being here, I havent had a pc for a while but am back online now.

I hope you are all well and I only just saw the last few posts here, so thanks for that info and once again the kind supportive words.

Ok an update - mentally I have been off the wall and back on it - a few trips to the shrink under my belt, a new CPN and OT and I am on the right side of stable again - I went high - but guess what - having no credit meant I didnt go and buy a load of useless rubbish - yayyyyy - so that was a plus of it but I decided to paint the house at 3am in the morning - that didnt go down too well when I told the shrink lol - naturally I hit the deck and wanted to give up on everything - but with a tweak of medication that passed and here I am several months on.

I passed my NVQ L2 hairdressing and I have a work placement one a day a week and am going back to do more hair in September - who'd have thought it lol I cant quite believe it myself.

Financially - this got a lot better when they decided to pay me income support once I proved I DID qualify under the linking rules - a long hard battle but worth it and I was glad I didnt give up and kept a lot of old paperwork lol. I finally got to sort out exactly how much I had coming in going out etc when the CSA announce they tracked down my ex after he was sacked from his job. They inform me that he will have to pay £980 a month to be deducted in September - I wont hold my breath. Part of me didnt want them to find him - I may be poor and he should pay but on income support I KNOW where I am, I now have to go back to ringing every 4 weeks to see if its in, getting them to enforce etc etc its a stress I could do without right now. This will leave me approx £200 to share between my creditors.

Most of the creditors have been great, especially the £23000 one, Mercers to who I owe only £3900 (not a measly amount but compared to £23000 is it) are not having any of it and are being vile to me despite letters from 2 shrinks, a CPN and my therapist - I dont think they will be happy till they have dragged me through the courts.

Phew - that was a lot wasnt it lol

So on the whole things are a million times better, its going to take me hundreds of years (it seems ) to clear my debt but hey ho - things could be worse.

If the CSA do come good and I get the maintenance I will be posting a new SOA for a bit of mew guidance if thats ok

    Cheers

    F
    xx
