But any other molecular science degree would require lab. experience... the OU is not rated on a different scale to 'real' universities....

I know that, there just aren't many choices there for me. Wonder if I can do crim without psych.

    I want terorism degree lol

if you are already studying at another HE institution you might not get funding for OU though - you may need to check this. You also don't get funding if you already have a degree.

If I was at the OU I wouldn't got anywhere else. I've only had 1 yrs part-time funding as far.
  • Debrag - you can do an Open degree either as a BA or BSc and make up the degree of whatever courses you fancy.

I shall look into this, my current uni (UEL) are being crap. I removed myself from Psych to do just Crim and they removed me from everything, so I'm not even down for my crim mod come feb!

I am looking at science degrees at birkbeck too
  • I really cannot recommend the OU highly enough - I could never have afforded to do a degree with them and their fantastic funding! It opens up a whole new world.

Have you noticed people are very quick to say - I didn't do well at maths at school, I can't do maths or whatever therefore I can't ever.... it's like budgetting and DFW approaching a subject with hindsight, experience and in a different way as a grown-up.
Signing-up for an OU course is probably the lightbulb moment and the hardwork/slower bits follow. I suspect the media of emailing tutors and online tutorial forums and threads suits people on here more than a hand-up in classroom approach at 14 did....
  • Yes Barnaby!

IA - you and your money on its own is not a qualification, just a course which is equivalent to first year university level study. BUT if you also took introduction to business studies you could get a certificate in business studies which would give you letters after your name (Cert Bus Studies (open))

However, if you wanted to go to CAB and volunteer for debt counselling they would probably look very favourably on the you and your money course. It is very very good and has some very useful tools.

Mrs. Spendalot will be along and explain it.... from what I know OU works on a modular system... each course is standalone and has points. For certain qualifications you need enough points from the right courses...

Most people link it to a general degree because you can choose any course pretty much (so many points at level 1, so many at level 2 etc)

to start with bt then some people specialise..
http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?C01DB123 is suitable and one of a few course you have to take to get a specific business studies degree
for the specific degree you need to choose from a limited menu
    http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?Q01B04

I think people start off doing general courses and ones specificically interest and then specialise if they follow it through...
The maths one is included for a huge range of courses
